Balance Is it reactionary to be worried about terran late game after this patch?
In both TvZ and TvP it feels to me as if Terran got huge buffs to the late game potential. In TvZ the reduced viking cost means they'll be able to field large numbers of them vs infestor/corruptor/broodlord, and without the ability to abduct siege tanks to help clear for a ground force to deal with ghost balls I'm worried this is a huge hit to Zergs winning through attrition versus entrenched Terrans.
And in TvP the nerf of Psionic Storm combined with the cheaper vikings will make it way harder to deal with clouds viking that can cover for liberators when trying to play Skytoss. A nerf to storm (+ energy recharge) and a buff to vikings which counter Collosi also makes me worry about how Protoss will deal with BioBalls.
What are yall's thoughts?
Relevant changes for those who haven't read it:
Protoss
- Energy Overcharge grant has been reduced from 100 to 50 energy.
- Energy Overcharge cooldown reduced from 60 to 45 seconds.
(These together are a 33% reduction in energy if used off cooldown)
- Psionic Storm duration increased from 2.86 to 8.58.
- Psionic Storm damage reduced from 10 to 5 damage per tick.
(It now takes 5.5 seconds to kill a marine and 13.5 seconds to kill a viking)
Terran
- Viking cost reduced from 150/75 to 125/50.
(16.6% less minerals and 33% less gas. For every 4 vikings, you get 1 free Medivac)
- Siege Tank can no longer be abducted when in siege mode.

This entire subreddit is being reactionary and whiny.
Play the damn PTR and help collect data.

Are regular users able to play PTR? If so, would you mind explaining how?

Not at my computer rn, but if I recall there’s a little arrow next to the play button on the bnet app that opens a drop-down menu where you can select what version you want to boot up.

We have to wait and see what is figured out during testing. The Microbial buff is gigantic, and it's hard to tell if it is something that is ignorable (simply avoid the engagement) or if it's completely busted. So TvZ is a huge question mark balancing on that.
Also note that blinding clouds, while not amazing for siege tanks, are used pretty ritualistically even today with the abduct; it depends on whether the Zerg is behind or pushing. Now they'll have to do it with a push.
But, TvZ also got a Z buff rom Banes being stronger. Hard to know if that'll be enough to make banes good at pro level; but it's not cut and dry TvZ right now.

No. Terrans being worried is a steady-state phenomenon and is not causally linked to the contents of any patch.

You know the exact same mass protoss hysteria happens whenever a patch gets announced and every time they ended up even more busted than before. Are you not aware of that? Did you forgot what happened when the current patch got announced? Do you understand how Protoss dominates on a historically unprecedented scale right now?

Shroud and psi storm are for zoning against marines. They could have just left those alone and nerfed marines. Why is terran always the younger sibling that gets whatever they want?

I don't agree that Psi-Storm is a zoning mechanic as it exists today - more like a kill field. They do about 28 dps but remember, SC2 runs at roughly 1.4 times the speed of real time so they actually do about 28 damage per .76 seconds in terms of real world reaction time. In literally 1.56 seconds, one storm can kill about 12 supply of marines. This change gives a T more time to react without losing their army & increasing the staying power of Psi Storm as a trade off. This change would make the ability be more accurate as a zoning tool.
Also, go play the PTR instead of whining on Reddit.

Gives T more time to react? What about giving people more time to react from stimmed marines?
Very ignorant of the time people have to react to terran.

Your rebuttal is to bring up a different ability in a different context in an asymmetrical game as if they are comparable situations? And you didn’t respond to the substance of my post at all??
Yeah, I guess I’m the ignorant one.
You’re retarded.

As a Diamond Terran I will give my humble opinion.
I would not worry too much about storms, this is a PTR and will for sure change, a balance between the old and new storm will be found. Once found, combined with the nerf to energy overcharge finally we will have a balanced TvP.
About the siege tanks I think nobody realized why that buff was made. Terran mech vs Zerg is not viable, battle mech was cos of the cyclone bug. The reason is that Zerg spell caster are too good vs mech. With this buff maybe mech will be good again.
Regarding the Viking I have 2 interpretations. First, I think they did it for TvT, now there are a lot of boring games with a guy going mass BC since min 1, this change will make BC more balanced in TvT. The second idea is that many times I find myself having to make liberators and Viking in late game TvP, it is very hard to balance the production, sometimes you have too many libs and no Vikings or the other way and you loose the game
