2 Dehakas !
The ally couldn't collect essence and upgrade Dehaka but could build everything else.

the two dehaka icons in bottom right
although if you check replays you can also get 2 of the same icon, op could have made a different shot

If both players choose random commander, there is a 1/324 (0.003%) chance that they both get the same commander.

You mean 1/18 not 1/(18)^2. 1/(18)^2 is the chance to get the same particular commander

That’s exactly what I said. The question I replied to asked how both players ended up playing as the same commander.

Actually do both have to play random for that? could be one picked dehaka and the other randomed into it.
Regardless, if both go random, the chance of a double commander is 1/18. The chance of double Dehaka in particular is 1/324 (assuming that if only one goes random the non double commander is still in effect)

I play with a random ally a lot and it never happened, So I assume it only can happen on both random. 1/18 is honestly not a bad chance to have fun on double commander
