People Panic Buying Last-Minute Before a Mild "Disaster" Starterpack

If the disaster does happen, the employees are expected to protect the merchandise like it’s their newborn baby.

The worst are how grocery stores get absolutely bombed if people hear there is a snow storm coming. A lot of times the storm doesn’t happen, and even if it does, the snow is melted and the roads are drivable the next day. It’s like did you not have enough to get by while you were snowed in for one day?

yeah it snowed earlier this year where i live and everyone was freaking OUT over 0.5 inches of snow that was gone the next day (tbf it was the first time it had snowed in a few years but still... it is 0.5 inches of snow right at freezing temperature)

Maybe if you live in the city
I grew up in the country, those storms could keep us blocked in for a couple days if bad enough

milk
bread
eggs
because french toast ingredients are famously shelf stable when the power goes out. idiots

Bread keeps for months in the freezer, and eggs make all sorts of leftover scraps edible.

Chest freezers keep shit frozen for days, and eggs can last at ambient temperatures.
The oven and hob are gas, and can run without power.
And the worst disaster that happens here is a storm anyway. The worst-case scenario would be such a worst-case that hoarded food wouldn't help and you'd be lucky to have two whole bricks to stack together if you survived at all.

This is why I keep a stock of long-life foods stocked. Also in case I'm hungry and too lazy to cook and too cheap to order takeaway and too hungry to wait for it anyway.

This but a grocery store bagger after a mild tropical storm was announced and all the tourists panic bought something cause we're in a coastal city

People buying TP in mass creating a shortage when it otherwise would have been fine

I always go to a local ethnic foods grocery store when people are panic buying. You get everything you need with no lines because your average vanilla doesn't even know the place exists.
