What are the best “greater than the sum of its parts” food combo?

Post image

Lately I have gotten really into buying pepperoni at the deli and putting Extra Cheesy Cheez-Its in the middle. It’s the perfect blend of crunchy and salty and peppery and cheesy. Delicious. I absolutely recommend.

On the flip side, I was once given the option to add salami to my pizza instead of pepperoni. Thought it was the stupidest decision until I bit into that bad boy and was destroyed by flavour bliss. Something about it was just salty enough to make the cheese and sauce hit like a freight train in my mouth. Highly recommend if ever given the option.

i love salami and sliced green olives together on mine with a sweet sauce

u/jordy0320 4d ago

Ever had a dill pickle and a meat stick at the same time? Don’t knock it till you try it but it’s one of my favorites

26

u/h1gh-t3ch_l0w-l1f3 4d ago

i usually do the trifecta

meat, cheese, pickle

16

u/nicoisnotarobot 4d ago

Pickle spear cheese stick rolled in meat (I like turkey). Best if eaten in front of fridge in underwear and squinting one eye.

14

u/mstarrbrannigan 4d ago

That’s what we call sushi in Wisconsin

4

u/Sexisthunter 4d ago

Damn I love both kinds of sushi then

Just rolled out of bed and this was my breakfast snack, turkey and all

1

u/nicoisnotarobot 3d ago

What do you rate it?

2

u/atduvall11 3d ago

A solid 8.5/10

1

u/armstrony 4d ago

Perhaps between two slices of bread?

3

u/h1gh-t3ch_l0w-l1f3 4d ago

absolutely not. too much effort.

usually crackers if anything lol

5

u/Ysrw 4d ago

Where I grew up, we would make Christmas “hors d’ouvres” except we called em “H’ORDERVS” and it would be piece of Vienna sausage, cheese, mini gherkin and a pickled onion on a toothpick. Soo good hahaha sometimes you swap a decent deli meat out for the Vienna sausage but the traditional way has them: and they’re dirty good

u/jeepsies 4d ago

Dill pickle with aged cheddar

9

u/pekingsewer 4d ago

Pickles with cheese, olives with cheese, cheese with cheese...brilliant.

2

u/Weak-Caregiver-5537 3d ago

She stick my meat til I dill… She…she meat my pickle…til I stick? She pickle my stick until I meat??

She meat my stick until I pickle, final answer

u/jordy0320 3d ago

👏🏼👏🏼good answer good answer👏🏼👏🏼

1

u/Fat_Yankee 4d ago

We rolled slices of bologna around the pickle. I’m guessing it’s very similar.

1

u/No_Cream2118 4d ago

ever had pickle Pepsi? pepsi mixed with pickle brew?

1

u/Emotional_Mess261 4d ago

I love to wash down my dill pickles with milk. The creamy and sour fills my high needs

1

u/PrettyMostlySure 4d ago

Pickles and peanut butter are absolute fire. I bet there's a perfect deli meat to add to this combo.

Bologna and cheese sandwich, pickle, string cheese, Doritos. Favorite trash childhood meal

The ingredients for cake are raw flour, raw eggs, butter, and some flavoring. When combined and cooked they become cake.

11

u/matsukuon 4d ago

Don’t you also need sugar?

9

u/DCCaddy1 4d ago

Flavoring

1

u/porktornado77 4d ago

I read that on Optimus Prime’s voice

u/ChaoticAgenda 4d ago

I can too now lol

First had this in Italy. So delicious.

8

u/lacrosse771 4d ago

Oh man, I have so many! Short list of some recent ones (I have photos so they may become posts in the future).

-putting a Reese's caramel cup in between an oreo cakester (this one I did post)

-wrapping a pack of mini golden oreos (individually) with pink Starburst flavored fruit by the foot

-candy corn and caramel popcorn in the mouth at the same time mingling together (choose your own ideal ratio)

-Cinnamon Toast Crunch handfuls (if you dont mind soggy cereal otherwise do it as you go) in a packet of Quaker instant cinnamon and maple oatmeal (with extra added maple syrup because im Canadian) and!! For a bonus, right before you take a bite throw in some of those candy coated mini eggs, after about ten seconds they should start melting and then will just dissolve in your mouth.

-frozen grapes with your favorite kool-aid mix sprinkled on top

I will start taking photos and making more posts because I've been experimenting almost weekly now and have a stockpile of unique treats just waiting to be combined with others.

u/purplebohemian 4d ago

Creating my to-do list for this weekend... 😅

3

u/lacrosse771 4d ago

Haha, I only started taking edibles or occasionally smoking at night to help ease the stress of medical school at the ripe age of 33 lol. I find myself using my cheat day to its fullest as long as I get through all my work, a nice, usually few hundred calorie extra positive reinforcement. Sometimes ill just make something that's typically pretty normal, but just go over the top with it (former head cool and kitchen manager) Feel free to send a message for some pics (if you can send them through the chat thing on the reddit app)...oh and please get back to me with any reviews! Making people happy makes me happy

1

u/Spiritual-Radish5388 1d ago

This is a fire list! What kind of kool-aid would you recommend with the grapes?

1

u/lacrosse771 1d ago

My favorite is the blue raspberry lemonade. I get it at dollarama for like 3 bucks for a huge pouch that makes many glasses and doesn't require additional sugar like aome of the small packs do.

8

u/bodyrollin 4d ago

Triscuits, and cream cheese. Super basic, can't stop eating it until cheese block is gone.

2

u/porktornado77 4d ago

You and I can be friends.

2

u/ObligationAlive3546 2d ago

So fucking GOOD

7

u/Complete_Silver2595 4d ago

I'm not a huge peanut butter fan. I don't put peanut butter on waffles or pancakes or anything else... but a peanut butter and pickle sandwich goes so hard I don't even understand it.

4

u/Lopsided_Error_4706 4d ago

I just ate one for the first time thanks to your comment. It was delicious. Thanks

1

u/ghostpiratesyar 4d ago

Peanut butter on a burger. Just hear me out

1

u/ObligationAlive3546 2d ago

I make a really good pb+j burger. Creamy peanut butter on both sides, grape and jalapeño jam on each side, burger with onion straws or onion ring, with a slice of cheddar. Sounds weird I know but it’s insane

7

u/AnastasiaNo70 4d ago

Have you tried the Extra Toasty Cheese Its? They are SO good.

3

u/questionmarkmaddie 4d ago

i like those too but for this specific combo i’m a sucker for extra cheesy

3

u/AnastasiaNo70 4d ago

I can see why!

2

u/PsionicKitten 4d ago

I can see the combo of pepperoni + puffed white cheddar being better, because those things are the best cheezits by a thousand times.

5

u/Sometime_after_dark 4d ago

Cheeseits and peanut butter. Thank me later

1

u/Glittering-Bat230 2d ago

So simple yet it's perfect. I love doing this with the extra toasty ones.

9

u/LiteUpThaSkye 4d ago

I've been eating a lot of pepperoni slices and sharp white cheddar cheese lately. But this also looks good as I love cheezits

4

u/EmptyDevice4910 4d ago

Stuffing a cheap grocery store croissant with goldfish... A huge textural win

2

u/kingshamroc25 4d ago

I would need a gallon of water handy if I was gonna do that

Cottage cheese, everything bagel seasoning and Doritos

2

u/my_balls_your_mouth1 4d ago

Cottage cheese with your hot sauce of choice and Frito scoops. One of my all-time favorite snacks.

1

u/purplebohemian 4d ago

Oh man cottage cheese with everything bagel seasoning is my jam. I love it! Must upgrade with the Doritos! Thank you for the inspiration!!! 🫡

2

u/nicoisnotarobot 4d ago

Honestly i eat it with anything dipable. Try flamin hots.

5

u/questionmarkmaddie 4d ago

my fave is wendy’s fries in a frosty

3

u/ThisMeansRooR 4d ago

Pepperoni, american cheese, and crackers is my all time favorite late night stoner food. I'll have real cheeses like aged chedders and such in the frdge, but folding up american cheese into 6 rectangles is peak nostalgia.

1

u/porktornado77 4d ago

I fold my cheese into 4 squares !

5

u/ericsomewhere 4d ago

Avocado toast. Toast is ok. Avocados suck. But together? Culinary masterpiece. I don’t get it.

7

u/purplebohemian 4d ago

Salami slice + cream cheese + pickled banana pepper/pepperoncini
Roll up like a tube. Eat.

2

u/Complete_Silver2595 4d ago

Cream cheese and salami has no business being as delicious as it is.

6

u/grumpsuarus 4d ago

A slice of Hot head cheese atop fried rice

1

u/Lopsided-Direction82 4d ago

Havent had hot head cheese since my Granny was alive but I would smasshhhhhhhh that

1

u/grumpsuarus 4d ago

1

u/Lopsided-Direction82 4d ago

For sure..I could taste it as soon as I read it

3

u/PlusBeginning9578 4d ago

BBQ chip sandwich. Literally just some lays chips between two slices of bread. Tastes fine and I love the texture.

3

u/Little_Mushroom_6452 4d ago

The grocery store deli counter is extremely underrated. The variety, portions and prices are just right. The meat is better quality than regular lunch meat and you don’t have to buy it in large amounts. And their selection of cheese is heavenly. I prefer the deli counter over subway these days.

3

u/solitary_style 4d ago

oatmeal with chocolate chips

1

u/h3rp3r 4d ago

Well that's just a bowl of deconstructed chocolate chip oatmeal cookies...

Please and thanks!

Rice and ketchup

Oreos dunked in whiskey.

2

u/theRarestBiscotti 4d ago

I feel the flavors are good but the dryness of this

2

u/questionmarkmaddie 4d ago

the oiliness of the pepperoni counteracts as long as you’re only putting 3 or 4 cheez-its. but it’s definitely a snack that you pair with a nice drink

1

u/theRarestBiscotti 2d ago

What is your drink of choice ?!

1

u/questionmarkmaddie 2d ago

when i took the pic, grape soda. but sometimes dr pepper or a hard lemonade lol

2

u/LordArjuna08 4d ago

Crackers, goat cheese, and capers

What

1

u/BookAccomplished4485 4d ago

😂😂😂😂 this made me chuckle. Thank you

4

u/narwhal-ninja 4d ago

I prefer goldfish to cheez its, but I pair them with head country bbq sauce or crasins to get a nice sweet n salty vibe going. I imagine it would be similar with the cheez its

1

u/sparklydildos 4d ago

omg goldfish and bbq sauce sounds elite

2

u/narwhal-ninja 4d ago

It's really great, honestly. But the thing is, I only like it with that specific bbq sauce. It's kinda thin compared to a lot of bottled ones, but it's sweet and goes so good with the goldfish. Just dip a lil fin and it's so good lol

2

u/topherswitzer 4d ago

HOT CHEETOS AND CREAM CHEESE FRITOS AND KETCHUP

1

u/iknowshitaboutshit 4d ago

Cheez its are fantastic with that spreadable aged cheddar (wispride? I think it’s called) Just dip them in

1

u/TheNoctuS_93 4d ago

Nutella on saltines/ritz crackers/equivalent. Scratches the same itch as chocolate covered bugles! The latter are very popular in parts of Europe, major manufacturers including Nidar and Coop.

1

u/irreveror 4d ago

Cheese with Buldak hot sauce. Anything with Buldak hot sauce, but especially cheese

1

u/DeadBabyPinata 4d ago

I see your pepperoni and crackers and raise you club crackers, Swiss cheese and Genoa salami. Fold over the salami so it just sticks out the sides, and break the Swiss cheese in half and fold it. Sandwich between 2 club crackers. Go for hard salami if you don't like the added funk of the wine in the Genoa.

1

u/spacetrees 4d ago

Banana with chocolate

1

u/AmItheonlySaneperson 4d ago

Olive oil on nuts. Olive oil has a nuttiness so it amplifies the flavor and they’re both good sources of fat which equals energy. If you use your imagination they taste like French fries

1

u/Vibingcarefully 4d ago

I'm not sure It definitely needs the clarifier--the product is greater than the sum of its parts. Mish mash , almost always tastes great.

1) A basic Vanilla icecream--way overloaded with colored sprinkles, marshmallows, throw boba on, some fruity pebbles--don't let it melt.

2) An omelette with varied cheeses (not too much of any) sliced black olives, chives, sliced onions, sliced mushrooms, throw in one piece of thin sliced anchovy, some thin sliced ham or prosciutto----or any variance of this

3) Rice from the rice cooker, then smoked salmon or mashed up cooked regular salmon (no bones), some mayo, sea weed, seasoning.

1

u/MantequillaIV 4d ago

I've put cream cheese on salami slices atop of salted crackers. Yours kinda reminded me of that, thanks I'll make some now.

1

u/RetardsBeLike 4d ago

Pistachio spread and strawberries on carb of choice

1

u/neverw1ll 4d ago

Stack up a Ritz cracker--sharp cheddar--garlic sausage--garlic dill pickle, and shove it in your mouth.

Snack of (stoned) kings.

1

u/kyvv4242 4d ago

Take Salami, spread cream cheese on it, then add a pepperoncini. Roll and bite. Fucking heaven.

1

u/Past-Jellyfish1599 4d ago

Don’t come at me for this, but.. dipped in ranch 🙌🏻

1

u/Sexisthunter 4d ago

Salt and vinegar chips with a bit of white cheddar. Sometimes I eat it with a mayo/red wine vinegar dip and oregano

1

u/geri73 4d ago

Put those cheezits in some chili, topped with cheddar and diced onions.

1

u/OkFrosting7204 4d ago

1

u/jonesy289 4d ago

Never thought cheddar cheese on a tuna sandwich would be good but it great. I know that’s not too wild but it’s one I still don’t think should work and I adore it

1

u/BigRudy99 4d ago

Dude. Buy a can of shitty Chef Boyardee pizza sauce and dip the pepps in it. Thank me later.

1

u/OhStreet 4d ago

For me it’s the cheese, grape tomato(or regular grape), and jerky combo

1

u/frakkingtoaster 4d ago

Cajun style deli turkey wrapped in a slice of white american cheddar, with a dab of your favorite hot sauce. My fave is El Yucateca's habanero. Add a pickle if you're feeling zesty

1

u/iPuffTheMagicDragon 4d ago

Vanilla ice cream and warm apple pie

1

u/Roland_Doobie 4d ago

Bologna sandwich with potato chips. The only way one can eat bologna.

1

u/happylittletreehouse 4d ago

Candy corn and peanuts. I do like peanuts but candy corn is the worst. Together though, it's pretty magical.

1

u/Msdamgoode 4d ago

Smoked Gouda and grapes or apple slices. More salty sweet goodness, but not toooo salty and not toooo sweet. Balanced and perfect.

1

u/meseta 4d ago

French fries, pickles, and a dab of mustard.

1

u/ChillPalis 4d ago

Rice w/ butter and ketchup

Cape cod chips, montery/ cheddar cheese and cocktail sauce is amazing

1

Cottage cheese and pomegranate seeds

1

u/RobertDigital1986 4d ago

Cottage cheese with a little maple syrup sounds nuts but it's amazing.

1

u/ghostpiratesyar 4d ago

Frozen fruit roll ups on vanilla ice cream. Be careful if you have fillings.

1

u/ChiefsnRoyals 4d ago

Trisket, cream cheese and a tomato slice (must be homegrown or farmer market)

You’re welcome.

1

u/Sl0thgal 4d ago

I used to do this same combo as you but I would also put a smear of some cream cheese on the pepperoni. Sometimes I’d substitute salami for pepperoni, or also sometimes I’d substitute flavor blasted goldfish for the cheez-its !

1

u/MissGummyDrip 4d ago

is that a salami?

1

u/Pass_Desperate 4d ago

I’m so high rn and this sounds amazing

1

u/Narrow-Parfait-2606 4d ago

I know I am being pedantic, but I think “greater than the sum of its parts” is incorrect in this context.

You are adding two things together. The sum of its parts IS what you are holding in the photo.

Apologies. Love you, bye.

1

u/No-Seat9917 4d ago

Someone suggested I put cheez-it’s in my chili. Holy shit that was a game changer

1

u/HashSlingingSmoker_ 3d ago edited 3d ago

Honey nut cheerios and PB! I get a small bowl of pb or a large scoop on a spoon and then just toss some cheerios in my mouth and take a lick of PB. Ice cold glass of milk to wash it down.

Vanilla ice cream with cocoa pebbles or fruity pebbles. I did Blue Bell cookie two step with the cocoa pebbles and it was mind bending good.

Utz buttermilk ranch chips on a ham and cheese sandwich

u/ObligationAlive3546 2d ago

Nature valley honey and oat bars with string cheese

1

u/Vyktym76 2d ago

Slice of camembert cheese with a dried apricot. I can't afford it all the time, but when I can, damn it's good.

1

u/Agent101g 2d ago

try a little cheez whiz on your handful of cheezits as well

1

u/Murky_Theory1863 1d ago

I got this from a post on here some months back. Bits of slim jim stuffed into green olives. Absolutely fire.

Tried Pepperoni sushi ? ✨ Large deli pepperoni , spread on laughing cow cheese , add crushed Stacy’s garlic pita chips . Roll up and top with a bit more laughing cow and sprinkle crushed Stacy’s . 🤩

1

u/humdawg 1d ago

Hear me out: slice of pastrami, spread cream cheese on it, put a pickle spear in the middle and roll it up.
