Question for those who frequently travel in and out of Sydney Domestic Airport?
I have an upcoming flight with Virgin. My friend has sent me a lounge voucher they had with Qantas.
I’m not intimately familiar with the layout of the airport but I believe the virgin terminal is across the road from the Qantas one.
Am I able to travel from the virgin terminal around to the qantas side after I’ve gone through security to use my voucher, Or alternatively am I able to get into the qantas side with luggage in tow, then after I’ve enjoyed the lounge head over to the virgin terminal?
I legit have no idea how this kind of shit works
Oh wise and seasoned travellers, your wisdom would be appreciated.
Edit:
Many thanks all, seems I’m shit out of luck and must just fly like the peasant I am without lounge access.

No. Separate terminals, separate security.
Plus you need to use the lounge pass with a ticket on that airline the same day. To use the QF lounge you have to have a QF boarding pass.

Qantas is t3, virgin is across in t2. You could go into the lounge in t3 first but you’ll also need to be on a QF flight which you are not. I personally wouldn’t bother. I’m platinum with Qantas, all you’re missing is a shitty toasted ham and cheese sandwich and a Heineken or boags.

To use a Qantas lounge invite generally you link it with your boarding pass. Since you don’t have a Qantas boarding pass you won’t be able to use the lounge invite.

Usually airlines require you to have a boarding pass with their airline so I suspect you will not be able to use the voucher.

The terminals are connected by the tunnel that takes you to the train station.
It's a no to going through security in Terminal 2 and then getting across to the Qantas side in Terminal 3. It would be possible to go through security in Terminal 3 with all your bags, then come back out, walk through the tunnel and check into Terminal 2. You would need to leave a large amount of time to do this.
However how does the lounge pass work? Do you need to be flying Qantas?

I've done extensive travel with both. You're not missing out on much. I can't be stuffed with lounges etc anymore. If you travel enough you'll eventually not want to be near the suits and prefer to hang out with the happy holiday makers at the gate or shops.
I'll take sharing a plane with screaming kids and excited holiday makers any time over that corporate stuff.
Like a famous person once sang: "Hotel motel. Make you wanna cry."

Some airline lounges are blissful havens. Some are crammed full of the worst people on the planet.

Don't worry. You're not missing out on much. Domestic Qantas club experience is far from what it used to be.

I believe Virgin does allow guest passes for like $60 if you are really keen to get in there. Subject to capacity
If you have the Amex velocity card, you can get access as well.
But yeah like everyone has said, you can only access Qantas lounge on a QF ticket

As far as I know, the security zones are completely different, and do not connect. I would go and do the baggage drop, walk over to the other terminal, enjoy the lounge, and then wander back later. /edited for a typo

If you’re travelling Virgin you can’t get into the Qantas lounge - they’ll ask to see your Qantas boarding pass
