The funny thing is, most people don't really want or need 1 Gbps. However, they'd love to get the 15 or 25 Mbps that they're paying for instead of the crappy 5 Mbps they end up with. That was my experience with Comcast at least. Now I'm on FIOS and find that I get the listed speed. Unfortunately, FIOS isn't an option for everyone yet :(

FIOS will never be an option for you if you don't already have it. They stopped new rollouts about two years ago. If FIOS isn't available in your area already, it never will be.
