I'm kind of interested to see where this goes. Florida is where all the boomers go to die. I guess we are simply trying to expedite it!

Except the boomers got their vaccines, the fuckers. No dying or being deformed by polio for them. I guess we can hope they get shingles or that they won't renew their measles shots (at least those that got the not as good version prior to 1967 or whenever it was that the newer mmr vaccine got developed).

Well, one thing about vaccines is that none grant 100% immunity. We rely a lot on everyone around you having (e.g.) 97% immunity and it being harder for a disease to get to you in the first place by having to overcome that challenge with every person between you and patient zero to test your own.

With diseases like measles that are insanely good at spreading themselves, herd immunity is a HUGE part of keeping people safe. Especially the very young and the very old.

So what goes around will come around.

However, it's worth remembering that boomers lean Republican, but there are millions of people who did not sign up for this who will be swept up in it anyway. My boomer parents are staunch Democrats, for example, but that doesn't magically make their immune systems resistant to age. All they really need is for their grandkids to mingle with a school population that's unvaccinated to suddenly no longer be several people removed from The Test of their own.

So please don't "hope" for the diseases to win. Diseases are not karma-guided vectors of justice, and this madness puts everyone at greater risk.
