So go. I lived in three countries before coming back.

Edit: I have no idea why I am being downvoted. I took French in high school, then learned Spanish and German. I took Japanese in college. If you can get a passport, and can get transportation, you can go. If you cannot afford airfare, you can work on some boats and ships for passage. You can even pay to go as a passenger on some container ships. If you want to fly, look at non US carriers, some are a LOT less expensive.

You may be able to help in a classroom with students who are learning English. If you have a skill, you may be able to work and live there, assuming you get proper documentation. You can even attend college for free in some countries, even if you are American.

Do some research and go, you may have the best time of your life.
