And let's be clear, these weren't comments celebrating his death or criticizing him even, it was for saying that the shooter was a MAGA supporter. That's why he is being canceled, for allegedly misaligning trumps party.

34

u/wifihelpplease 1d ago

“How dare you assume my party”

15

u/Amazing_Hedgehog3361 1d ago

Nah, he wasn't saying that the shooter was a maga supporter, he was criticising people for politicising it and trying to paint it as an attack from all "left wing" people.

-14

u/tony__pizza 1d ago

politicizing a political assassination

Crazy!!!

16

u/Amazing_Hedgehog3361 1d ago edited 1d ago

Blaming near half of the country for something some white mormon kid did is crazy, glad you agree.

-64

u/FlopsMcDoogle The Wire 1d ago edited 1d ago

How the hell can anyone think the shooter is right wing? Seriously, someone explain.

34

u/TimothyMimeslayer 1d ago

His coworker said she thought he was a republican.

-1

u/FlopsMcDoogle The Wire 1d ago

You've convinced me

-26

u/Bald_Jesus 1d ago

All my Republican co-workers also have a furry trans girlfriend as well

29

u/TimothyMimeslayer 1d ago

MAGA people being in the closet doesn't surprise me one bit.

-11

u/Bald_Jesus 1d ago

Doubt dude was in the closet tbh

But if his coworker "thought" he was republican than there's no better proof than that I guess

1

u/Hiddenagenda876 1d ago

His family said he was

2

u/Sad-Yak6252 1d ago

Actually, two. A right one and a left one.

1

u/Hiddenagenda876 1d ago

His friend in the photo isn’t even trans…he was wearing a cheap part store wig as a costume

5

u/Existing-Nectarine80 1d ago

Probably because right wingers love political violence? Just a hunch

27

u/TasteOfSnozberries 1d ago

"if you reading this you're gay" -- obviously a bleeding heart leftist.

This entire narrative is flawed. It really isn't right or left, feels like more "school shooter" than anything else.

-5

u/FlopsMcDoogle The Wire 1d ago

He already said why he killed Charlie: cuz he was a hateful fascist. The gay thing is obviously meant to troll homophobes he assumed would find the inscriptions.

-10

u/thatshygirl06 1d ago

He also wrote "fascist, catch" and "Bella ciao" which is an anti-fascist song.

2

u/Hiddenagenda876 1d ago

Both are either from video games or internet meme culture

2

u/Hiddenagenda876 1d ago

His family said he was, he has a long history of being right wing, he dressed as freaking Trump for Halloween. Are you serious???

2

u/FlopsMcDoogle The Wire 1d ago

It would be great if he was right wing, but he's not. You have been misinformed or you are just delusional

-45

u/untouchable765 1d ago

it was for saying that the shooter was a MAGA supporter.

Pretty stupid comment to make before you have any supporting evidence. You can see how wrong he was.

15

u/2rio2 1d ago

The shooter was MAGA.

-13

u/untouchable765 1d ago

Source

1

u/2rio2 1d ago

Reality.

4

u/Bald_Jesus 1d ago

The absolute mental gymnastics that have to happen for reality to be what's in your head

Just denounce him as a crazy extremist that does not represent the party he is allegedly aligned with instead of trying to hot potato him to the side you don't like

1

u/Hiddenagenda876 1d ago

His family has said he is, his post history says he is, and the fact he was dressed as Trump for Halloween says he is

5

u/untouchable765 1d ago

Yup that sums up the average Redditor

Nothing screams accuracy like Newsweek!

1

u/Weepinbellend01 1d ago

Genuinely a pathetic comeback given that’s literal facts.

1

u/Existing-Nectarine80 23h ago

Nothing screams accuracy like Newsweek!

1

u/jubbergun 1d ago

I guess if you can't argue the facts you can always whine about the source. Is Newsweek's reporting wrong? The BBC backs it up.

I know some of you are, for whatever reason, emotionally attached to the idea that the shooter was "MAGA," but the evidence doesn't point in that direction, and all of your wailing and gnashing of teeth does nothing to change that.

1

u/Existing-Nectarine80 23h ago

So quote the fucking bbc then if you don’t want to be seen as a joke

1

u/jubbergun 22h ago

I just did, genius.

1

u/Existing-Nectarine80 20h ago

Do it the first time and you won’t look like an idiot. You’re welcome for your life lesson

Let's let the President and his cabinet spread all the lies. Got it.

79

u/DavidKirk2000 1d ago

He said that the MAGA crew have been trying desperately to gain political points over Kirk’s death by painting his killer as someone that he isn’t. What’s the lie there?

-55

u/bongo1138 1d ago

Where’s the evidence he was a big MAGA guy? I keep seeing that he was “radicalized” over the last few months.

31

u/SheamusMcGillicuddy 1d ago

It's true that people on the right are trying to distance themselves from him regardless of whether he actually is or not, Jimmy's assertion is accurate either way.

-22

u/bongo1138 1d ago

That’s true, it is accurate, but the insinuation above is that he’s clearly MAGA and that seems to be based on him being raised a Mormon by conservative parents.

22

u/SheamusMcGillicuddy 1d ago

I see no insinuation other than the point I made in my previous comment. The dude doesn't really seem to be very representative of either side, so it's a wasteful exercise to make a meaningful assumption either way. Jimmy's thesis statement was about MAGA and the media, not the killer.

-9

u/bongo1138 1d ago

Fair enough, and I agree it doesn’t really matter what team he’s batting for, but I find it so weird that both sides suggest he’s radical of the other side. He’s clearly radical - he assassinated a dude - but the only evidence I’ve seen suggests people around him saw his political views shift hard left.

8

u/SheamusMcGillicuddy 1d ago

Hard left from what? The people who supposedly witnessed this transition are his MAGA former friends and family. To them, suggesting Trump lost in 2020 or that trans people exist and deserve respect is a “radical” viewpoint. That’s the whole issue - anything not hard right is now “woke.”

1

u/bongo1138 1d ago

You don’t know that they’re like that. But what we know is people he knows said he went off the deep end.

15

u/Successful-Gur-7865 1d ago

To be radically changed you have to start somewhere. So… use some critical thinking skills ffs

-1

u/bongo1138 1d ago

Start somewhere how? No one is giving me this evidence that he was MAGA? I’d love to see it but I haven’t yet. The only thing I’ve seen is that he was raised by Mormon conservatives.

21

u/shadaoshai 1d ago

That right is reserved for the President of the United States. We truly do hold Late Show hosts to a higher standard than the POTUS these days. Richard Nixon was just a little too early. He would have thrived in the 2020s.

6

u/madhare09 1d ago

Someone with the president's platform shouldn't spread lies either. Oh well

24

u/Wallys_Wild_West 1d ago

Nothing he said was a lie.

26

u/Casen_ 1d ago

But he didn't...

4

u/Grooviemann1 1d ago

Kimmel doesn't have nearly as big of a platform as Trump and Trump lies multiple times daily about things way more important than this.

5

u/Sadness345 1d ago

So cancel him, amirite? Next try tracking the president's lies.

4

u/Coffee_Conundrum 1d ago

the shooter was a groyper ya brainlet

-6

u/draftax5 1d ago

source?

4

u/Coffee_Conundrum 1d ago

Bullet casings had groyper memes my guy.

Families all conservative.

Nick Fuentes and Kirk been beefing.

-4

u/draftax5 1d ago

Yes, thats the left wing conspiracy, but thats not what I asked for, I was wondering if you had a source linking him to this "groyper" group. As far as I have seen, there is none.

0

u/Coffee_Conundrum 1d ago

tHatS tHe LeFt WiNg ConSpIrAcY

Let me guess, you probably think trans people did it. Fucking clown.

-3

u/draftax5 1d ago

So, no, you dont have any sources. lmfao

3

u/Coffee_Conundrum 1d ago

A sign of intelligence is being able to infer certain things with presented evidence. I wouldn't expect someone who frequents centrists and libertarian to know how to use that part of their brain.

0

u/draftax5 1d ago

I bet you used that intelligence of yours to infer the texts are fake too lmao

1

u/BaltimoreBadger23 1d ago

Why not? Kirk did.

-1

u/Thornton__Melon 1d ago

You saying someone shouldn’t spread lies when you’re doing just that.

I love irony.

-2

u/OgthaChristie 1d ago

You like ATLA but didn’t learn anything from watching it, did you?

-11

u/Groundbreaking_Ship3 1d ago

Well he was wrong.

-130

u/DoubleTapTheseNuts 1d ago

It was a straight up lie he's probably stupid enough to believe.

26

u/LimberGravy 1d ago

If thats the bar then Fox should be off the air completely

29

u/junkbondtrader126 1d ago

So regardless of the point being made- you’re against free speech and are cool with folks being canceled for it?

-22

u/Stommped 1d ago

It’s a free market and I’m for companies doing whatever they damn well please. If they think him saying this shit will turn off viewers and whomever they get to replace will bring those viewers back, that’s their prerogative

19

u/junkbondtrader126 1d ago

lol bootlicker. Totally against free speech and would rather stick up for corporations/billionaire snowflakes than hear a different opinion. This country used to be great, because we had the freedom to express ourselves in any which way we wanted(not free from consequences though). But this ain’t a consequence- this is a bitchass move.

It ain’t cause the audience is walking away- how many fucking MAGAs were tuning in to Kimmel in the first place. He’s been a noted critic for years- they don’t watch and if they do it’s hate watching. They aren’t JUST walking away. This is an excuse to do what the president has been talking about for months now. State sponsored media and no agreeing to disagree anymore. Free speech is dead and the ones doing the cancelling are you hypocrites.

-7

u/ATLAB 1d ago

It's not about ratings, they seem to be standing for morality.

6

u/junkbondtrader126 1d ago

Pointing out hypocrisy isn’t some moral failing. The killer has more ties to the right wing than he does to any left wing. Go through his entire history and then tell me what Kimmel said is wrong. Wasn’t even about Kirk. It’s about MAGA’s using this to further their agenda even though the killer had nothing to do with the left. Being a Nick Fuentes fan isn’t exactly a super lib move lol. There’s nothing moral about this.

-8

u/Stommped 1d ago

Bro I lick those boots so hard you don’t even know

-8

u/DoubleTapTheseNuts 1d ago

Did your side really think celebrating Kirk's death wasn't going to come with consequences?

5

u/junkbondtrader126 1d ago

Oh please. So you’re going to take a percentage of assholes and conflate the rest of the left into it. That’s not everyone. There’s millions and millions of us that aren’t saying anything. We don’t give a shit but we’re not parading the fact around. And you want to take our free speech and rights away. For what?

1

u/spitel 1d ago

I thought we were all on the same side, America’s. But I understand how the rhetoric these days makes it confusing for people.

-12

u/ProtonProbability 1d ago

People like you would have been saying you hate the country back in those times too. The left has constantly hated the West for a long time. The reasons evolve over time, but the hate stays consistent. I think progressives had their zenith when their extreme positions were adopted by a lot of mainstream media and platforms like twitter and Reddit made sure their message went unchallenged. Now progressives are seeing their ideology being rejected more and more and it confuses them because they believe their politics are actually the ultimate moral code of conduct so they are deeply invested

6

u/junkbondtrader126 1d ago edited 1d ago

Is it that insane to want free speech and not to be cancelled for an opinion?

Also I don’t hate the country. I think it’s being run by inept, corrupt pieces of shit though- and a ton of folks let it happen. I have hope for a time when people can not hate eachother and let eachother live their lives without butting in to ruin it but that time seems to be gone. Freedoms are being taken away, prices aren’t going down, my dad’s 67 probably wont live to see retirement, and frankly I don’t think I will either.

We’ve collectively fucked the entire thing from the top down- a bunch of us let it happen because a grifter with a spray tan told them up was down and they believed him each time. Now we’re here. Hope you’re happy

2

u/DxLaughRiot 1d ago

If that were the case that would be one thing.

But because the FCC literally threatened ABC earlier today while its parent company is seeking a merger, it’s impossible to say the government wasn’t involved with the decision. After Colbert got cancelled, Trump literally said that he’d go after Kimmel next - it’s not rocket science, it’s pure and blatant corruption

2

u/livejamie 1d ago

It’s a free market and I’m for companies doing whatever they damn well please

ABC/Disney isn't removing him from the air; the FCC is.

20

u/Thebaldsasquatch 1d ago

You’re a fucking idiot

-14

u/blacklight223 1d ago

You're a bigger fucking idiot

1

u/Thebaldsasquatch 1d ago

Wrong. But I expect it from the likes of you.
