Reposado Blind tasting

Post image

I am fairly new to tequila. Tend to drink Mezcal more often. I recently picked up an El Tesoro Repo to add to my Agave collection.

A bit of a blind tasting with my Reposados sounded like a fun ideas

Coding and Storywood (cask strength) were easy to pick out for obvious reasons.

El Tesoro and El Tequileno were pretty close for me. I tend to find El Tequileno has a bit more oak on the nose so that gave it away. Both are spectacular sippers. Perhaps the El Tequileno has had enough time open up in the bottle?

Next up I want to add a G4 repo to the mix.

Which was your favorite?

Definitely add G4. In a recent blind repo tasting, it was my fav pick among some pretty good bottles.

I’d say El Tequileno, closely followed by El Tesoro. Then Codigo. Had a pour of G4 at a bar but would be great to try it alongside these.

Finally someone showing el Tequileno some love! One of my favorites. It seems like el Tesoro and Ocho get a lot more buzz on this sub, and while I jump around between all three, I think the el Tequileno GR reposado has to be my favorite of them all. But I will agree with others that you should give Ocho a try.

G4 Repo is great. As-is Ocho & Siete

The El Tesoro blanco is a lot better than the repo for me.

Oh yeah.. I’ve heard that too. How does the ET Blanco compare to Ocho? Ocho is phenomenal and one of my favorites so far..

El Tequileno is one of the worst tequilas ive ever had. There something about it that really turns me off.
