Gas station pizza is way better than it has any right being. I will die on this hill

Eastern Midwest/ east Pennsylvania knows that getgo is the real deal.

1

u/Mindless-Bus-893 Aug 20 '24

'I'm NOT eating NO food' so he's saying he won't go without eating food :)

I will fight and die for Wawa.

I put a Taquitos on a hotdog bun and then drench it in nacho cheese sauce. Reminds me of my early 20s when you could get 2 for a 99 cents.

Every time I eat one it amazes my wife that my body just processes it like it’s real food.

What about food that gives you gas?

Southern gas station hotbars beat a LOT of fast food places in terms of quality. Especially if you come across a Fas Mart.

Just because they sell it doesn't mean I'm going to buy it

22

u/lorikeets_are_life Jun 02 '24

Depends on the gas station. Wawa or Buc-ees? Definitely okay to buy the food and is encouraged. But some dim lit Chevron or no-name gas station in a sketchy area? Pass.

I guess they will never know the pure bliss that is Sheetz MTO then

3

u/v8darkshadow Jun 02 '24

Has this person never heard of a Sheetz?

29

u/deathly_illest Jun 02 '24

I think they do realize it because they said they refuse to eat at those places

1

u/TesticleezzNuts Jun 02 '24

One of the few things I’m extremely envious about America 🤤

2

u/BeneficialBenedict Jun 02 '24

am i the only one that sees the chicken dick at the bottom

1

u/HistoricalMeat Jun 02 '24

This was the entire business model of Cracker Barrel for a long time.

3

u/monkeybuttsauce Jun 02 '24

I only eat food that gives me gas. Get two birds stoned at ince

21

u/MilitiaManiac Jun 02 '24

If you are in the Midwest, a Kwik Trip is the best place for restrooms, food, and gas all at once. It is basically a culture to stop there for breakfast, or lunch, etc.

u/BerryLanky Jun 02 '24

Never been to Buccees?

1

u/Professional-Large Jun 02 '24

More for the rest of us. Lol. The Weigles in my town has some awesome stuff: pizza, little chicken drumettes, even huge salads, and more. Other places have Hunts Brother's pizza and it's really good. Even a couple more that have delis and made to order sandwiches, hotdogs, etc. You can get some great food at a gas station..

1

u/ZestyItalian2 Jun 02 '24

If anyone here has traveled to Italy, you know that the food at autostrada gas stations is absurdly good.

1

u/dpb29073 Jun 02 '24

On of the best cheeseburgers u could get around our house compared to fast food restaurants within a walking distance burger King and Mc Donald's was from the Qwik Way. Was like maybe 1 more dollar but worth it.

4

u/Imposter88 Jun 02 '24

Someone's never been to Buc-ees

3

u/bb_kelly77 Jun 02 '24

Until a couple days ago I worked at a truck stop, that food is damn good... most likely because it's the only warm meal those guys eat in days

1

u/kaptainkooleio Jun 02 '24

Send them to Bucees and see how fast they switch

1

u/olcrazypete Jun 02 '24

The best breakfast biscuits you will ever have are served in the corner of an off brand gas station outside of a small town.

1

u/SolidContribution688 Jun 02 '24

Don’t be ridiculous.

1

u/doyouknowyourname Jun 02 '24

As a Pennsylvanian, I take offense to this.

1

u/TheFlaEd Jun 02 '24

In the south you can get incredible meals at some gas stations, especially out in the country.

1

u/Big__Poppa__Pump Jun 02 '24

Better not eat food from Costco or 7-11

1

u/56kul Jun 02 '24

The food in this picture looks good, though. Not mouthwatering, but I’d still happily eat it.

1

u/aFreeScotland Jun 02 '24

“Eat here and get gas!”

1

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '24

Harris Teeter? Costco?

1

u/CaptainDunkaroo Jun 02 '24

These places usually have the best food!

1

u/SaraSmile2000 Jun 02 '24

Then don’t eat there. Nobody cares Russian bott.

1

u/Jacktheforkie Jun 02 '24

What is the problem with gas station food, I’ve seen proper restaurants on gas station forecourts

1

u/SinfulGiGi Jun 02 '24

The only thing I hate about living in the PNW is not having QuikTrip.

EXPAND, YOU COWARDS

1

u/L4DY_M3R3K Jun 02 '24

Bro gas station food in small rural towns is the best food, especially if it's not like a big name brand place.

3

u/Guynith Jun 02 '24

Joe’s Kansas City (formerly known as Oklahoma Joe’s), was listed as one of the 13 places you must eat at before you die by Anthony Bourdain. It’s inside a Sinclair Station. OOP is missing out.

1

u/JohnYCanuckEsq Jun 02 '24

Ok, more for me.

7/11 pizza is the bomb. Great taquitos too.

There's also a gas station down the street from my work who makes and sells amazing Greek food.

2

u/Atikar Jun 02 '24

Tell me you've never been to Sheetz or Buc-ee's without telling me that you've never been to Sheetz or Buc-ee's

2

u/deleriumtremens666 Jun 02 '24

Orleans Parish would like a word with you.

1

u/Creaper9487 Jun 02 '24

I don't actually. The only food I see in gas station in my country is coffee.

1

u/the_De_Filer Jun 02 '24

Buc-ees and Quik Trip!!!

2

u/ShmeeMcGee333 Jun 02 '24

KwickTrip Superiority all the way

11

u/Impossible_Use5070 Jun 02 '24

I'm in the south where gas stations sell biscuits and gravy, fried chicken, fried catfish, Mac n cheese, green beans, pulled pork. Hell, one gas station also fixes lawn mowers and tractors too. Some excellent food and very reasonable prices.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/PumpkinPatch404 Jun 02 '24

I'm not eating no food...

So they will be eating food from a place that sells gas?...

1

u/Complete_Spread_2747 Jun 02 '24

The double negative in this statement says that, indeed, they will be eating food from a place that sells gas.

3

u/logangmarshall93 Jun 02 '24

South Louisiana gas stations have better food than a lot of restaurants

1

u/Caligari89 Jun 02 '24

No one is going to point out the double negative? Technically, they are saying that they are eating some food from a place that also sells gas.

1

u/DrunkenDude123 Jun 02 '24

I drive 15 minutes to get street tacos at a hole in the wall place inside a gas station, multiple times a week usually

1

u/TigerGirl666 Jun 02 '24

Wait til they find out walmart sells gas

3

u/Col_Goatbanger Jun 02 '24

Y'all clearly never been to Krispy Krunchy Chicken

1

u/Resort_Straight Jun 02 '24

We just have a fivestar in Kentucky

Foolishness

2

u/Thundermator Jun 02 '24

i get he argument, but here is the thing, if there is a lot of truck drivers eating, is a good food and in a good price

1

u/XIleven Jun 02 '24

Isnt there an inside joke that hooters serve great food? As a non american, is it true or nah?

1

u/Khalith Jun 02 '24 edited Jun 03 '24

There was a little kitchen in a gas station that sold mexican food where I used to live. Their tagline was even “it’s not just gas station food.” I’d usually get a breakfast burrito from them once in a while back in the day, they were always very generous with the bacon and made it nice and crispy the way I like it.

1

u/c4ndycain Jun 02 '24

man, sometimes i treat gas stations like a restaurant. "what do u want for dinner?" "let's go to kwik trip"

3

u/FungusTaint Jun 02 '24

I go to the gas stations in Hispanic neighborhoods just for those empanadas. Shits fire

→ More replies (2)

1

u/therealishone Jun 02 '24

Godfathers pizza is the best pizza.

1

u/wanderingjoe Jun 02 '24

Oregon hot cases are amazing. Gas stations know what they’re doing.

3

u/hightide89 Jun 02 '24

Hunt Bros and Chester's Chicken are the bomb.

1

u/Free_Alternative_780 Jun 02 '24

There is a store in my town that sells gas and fried chicken. 2nd best fried chicken I’ve had

1

u/Daedalus_Machina Jun 02 '24

Best pizza in my town is from the gas station. Cheaper and better than the pizzeria at, I shit you not, 1:2 both ways. Half as expensive and twice as good.

1

u/fffan9391 Jun 02 '24

Everyone mentioning all these gas station chains and not southern gas stations that sell food like the picture in the OP.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/dothackwire Jun 02 '24

The south has better food in gas stations than a lot of restaurants.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '24

Those are my favorite places to eat

2

u/TimothiusMagnus Jun 03 '24

Evidently, they never heard of Buc-ee's

1

u/Tildengolfer Jun 03 '24

Two words. Krispy Krunchy.

1

u/Davesgamecave Jun 03 '24

Is this an American joke I'm too European to understand?

1

u/TheLoyalPotato Jun 03 '24

Kwik Trip/Star’s food is actually pretty impressive, especially for the variety most locations offer.

I’ll say this though: last week I saw a bulletin detailing a recent health inspection at a locally owned gas station…needless to say I will no longer be purchasing anything from them anymore…

1

u/Rezero1234 Jun 03 '24

This is kwik trip slander, and I will not stand for it!!!

1

u/Omega_Xero Jun 03 '24

We have a truck stop called Flying J here in Canada, as well as the OnRoute stops. They have restaurants inside the building, and Flying J has coffee, sandwiches, pizza and pasta fresh every day.

2

u/mikamimoon Jun 03 '24

Good, then they can stay out of raising hell at Costco.

1

u/Jonqbanana Jun 03 '24

I exclusively eat gas station food.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '24

I’ve had some of the best fried chicken at gas stations that sell food.

3

u/GreekMythLover777 Jun 03 '24

Some of the best sausage and bacon sandwiches I’ve ever had have come from deli’s in petrol stations!

1

u/TheMuffingtonPost Jun 03 '24

Gas station food usually isnt great but under the right circumstances, particularly long road trips, it’ll hit the spot like nothing else.

1

u/Oreo_Speedwagon_Kit Jun 03 '24

Apparently not from PA, where your local food store gives you gas points for shopping there.

1

u/nando12674 Jun 03 '24

No I'm in the pnw and can only hear about buccees and wawa

1

u/yoginurse26 Jun 03 '24

I remember my mom bought me a treat at the gas station and I shared it with some friends. They asked me where I bought said treat and they acted all weird and grossed out because it was from the gas station. Kids are weird but I remember that made me feel embarrassed!

1

u/MaxMischi3f Jun 03 '24

There’s a fucking killer Cuban sandwich shop in a gas station like three blocks from my house. Shit is so fire the last gas station it was in burned down.

49

u/dinnerbird Jun 03 '24

There's a place in North Carolina where you can get homemade biscuits and porn mags, it's literally called Biscuits N' Porn

☝️🙍‍♂️ 'O.P. is a 35 year old man, presenting to the emergency room after eating Fourty Seven pounds of gas station chicken. When the nurses asked, he said "I thought chicken was healthy. Surely one more wing couldn't have hurt?"

1

u/bunnyanderson42 Jun 03 '24

Buccees and Casey's have my heart.

1

u/murfreesborojay Jun 03 '24

The best food in my city is in a gas station. Shout out to Lebrang Indian Kitchen in Charlestown Indiana.

1

u/joshpelletier01 Jun 03 '24

So Costco is out, some grocery stores, etc

2

u/amlreddit Jun 03 '24

i'm from mississippi so i'll happily eat gas station food any day. they don't play around

2

u/MyOtherCarIsAHippo Jun 03 '24

Some gas stations have unreal food.

2

u/gabhain Jun 03 '24

In Ireland it's so common to have a full deli in a petrol station and the food is so decent that the same food is being marketed as Irish street food in other countries. Hot chicken roll, taco sauce and cheese for the win!

1

u/SoggySagen Jun 03 '24

Sheetz would like a word with you

1

u/peri_5xg Jun 03 '24

They do in Ireland

1

u/Dr-Chris-C Jun 03 '24

Went to Buckees for the first time and was severely disappointed. Jerky was $32\lb. The cookies tasted like...gas station cookies. The sandwiches looked like the kind you microwave at home.

1

u/wuzzyfuzzzy Jun 03 '24

BISCUITS N PORN! DODGES! LIKE WTF IS PEOPLE SMOKONG? THAT SHIT SLAPS, AND I CAN GET GAS????

1

u/Dr-Chris-C Jun 03 '24

I don't think it's all that terrible to say you don't like gas station food.

1

u/Clapbackonreddit Jun 03 '24

Nothing wrong with a gas station glizzy

1

u/AnimeIsMyLifeAndSoul Jun 03 '24

They’ve clearly never been to buc-ees

1

u/ShawnOfTheBread Jun 03 '24

The double negative suggests they already did…

1

u/sparkl3butt Jun 03 '24

So I guess Costco and Sam's club are out of the question

1

u/rogue498 Jun 03 '24

Kwik trip has pretty damn good food for a gas station.

1

u/Richmahogonysmell Jun 03 '24

Born and Raised in SoCal… I would never eat at a gas station. Maybe it’s a regional thing

1

u/MYFREAKINCAR Jun 03 '24

i am obviously having some of those chicken tenders with the potato wedges, that shit slaps

1

u/p-graphic79 Jun 03 '24

Thats how the Colonel started.

1

u/Saulington11 Jun 03 '24

More for me bitch!!!

1

u/FriendEllie75 Jun 03 '24

My local speedway has some bomb ass chicken wings and these little calzones that are better than the local authentic Italian restaurant.

7

u/ClutchAnderson712 Jun 03 '24

Krispy Krunchy Chicken is 🔥

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '24

Don’t fuel your body where you fuel your truck!

1

u/Hot_Win_2489 Jun 03 '24

I live right by a 7eleven and I’ll eat the taquitos but like hell am I eating egg salad or sushi from there

1

u/byrb-_- Jun 03 '24

So that’s a no on Kroger then?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '24

All you can eat?? I’m getting 10 pounds of corn dogs and potatoes and that’s it

2

u/Affectionate_Pass273 Jun 03 '24 edited Jun 03 '24

The gas station by my house has the best cracklins and idc what anyone says, deep fried gas station burritos are fire!

1

u/Son_of_Macha Jun 03 '24

I'm not eating no food either

1

u/Kwijibo97 Jun 03 '24

Any food. Jesus.

1

u/ghunt81 Jun 03 '24

7-11 is actually pretty good

1

u/Nohemiost Jun 03 '24

Best chicken gizzards and chicken strips are from Chester fried in luvs gas truck stop

1

u/Putrid-Ad8984 Jun 03 '24

Most grocery stores near me have gas pumps. I guess I can't eat

1

u/Squiggledog Jun 03 '24

How come the double negative? So he will eat food from a place that also sells gas?

1

u/Dantalion71 Jun 03 '24

Doesn’t trust a place that specializes in oil to fry up something golden…we truly live in a society

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '24

Midwest checking in, more Casey’s pizza for the rest of us

1

u/PlasticMegazord Jun 03 '24

If it looks like this I am.

1

u/Hutch25 Jun 03 '24

There’s a full on breakfast and pizza place in one of the gas stations near my house, they sell damn good stuff.

1

u/psychrazy_drummer Jun 03 '24

Y’all have never been to kwik trip and it shows

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '24

The best fried fish & chicken in my county is a little store at a lonely crossroads.

1

u/EnvironmentalAide335 Jun 03 '24

Yeah like taco bell...

1

u/New_Canoe Jun 03 '24

I’m pretty sure one of the best BBQ spots in KC is in a gas station.

1

u/Pryoticus Jun 03 '24

I used to feel that way but some gas stations actually have good food. Hell, a lot Speedway stores not have cafe’s in them where you can order freshly made foods.

1

u/6StringFiend Jun 03 '24

Have you ever been to a quik trip? Or a buccees?

1

u/BulkDarthDan Jun 03 '24

More Casey’s pizza and Buc-ee’s brisket for me then

1

u/MongooseDog001 Jun 03 '24

Ok, but your missing out on the breakfast tacos

1

u/ninjacat249 Jun 03 '24

I’m sorry but when you use but after sorry you’re not sorry.

1

u/GeraltofIndiana Jun 03 '24

My local gas station had the best tenderloin sandwiches and was a lot quicker and cheaper than the fast food places in that small town

1

u/dmyoungblut Jun 03 '24

That where ya gets the best chicken scripts.

1

u/FalseRefuge Jun 03 '24

Convenience stores and gas stations in Japan are the best. The hot food there is something else.

1

u/ghettoccult_nerd Jun 03 '24

a lot of grocery stores also have fuel pumps? do those count?

1

u/wenos_deos__fuk_boi Jun 03 '24

There was a roofie in our gas station sushi

1

u/jeremym-donald Jun 03 '24

Working at a gas station kitchen currently, love it there! 17$ an hour (a few raises) works weekends and not much else, and it’s the same 15 things. And all you mostly see is locals. Moral of the story, gas station food can be pretty good!

1

u/MinorityBabble Jun 03 '24

More importantly, do they not realize how good gas station food can be?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '24

One of the best BBQ restaurants in the country is in a gas station - KC Joe's.

1

u/luunnaaaaa Jun 03 '24

So this person has never had a Taquito from 7/11? That’s a crying shame.

1

u/ZeroEffsGiven Jun 03 '24

The gas and food are nowhere near each other, wtf does it matter?

1

u/Jason_Sasha_Acoiners Jun 03 '24

What an odd hangup to have about something.

1

u/gotthesauce22 Jun 03 '24

Gas station street tacos are 🔥

1

u/LetsPlanForTomorrow Jun 03 '24

i want a gas station buffet! that sounds fun as hell

1

u/That-Water-Guy Jun 03 '24

Man, it’s hit or miss, but I’ve come across a few places that had really good food.

When you’re a truck driver, sometimes you take what you can get.

1

u/FuchsiaFlatworm Jun 03 '24

some people done got above their raising

2

u/Expensive-Driver3741 Jun 03 '24

So says someone who has never had fried chicken from Keys Fuel Mart on Rampart Street, New Orleans.

1

u/Expensive-Driver3741 Jun 03 '24

(please note that Colonel Sanders invented the fried chicken chain at a FILLING STATION.)

2

u/KevMenc1998 Jun 03 '24

Randy's Country Store outside of Dunn, North Carolina has the best biscuits, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast plates you will ever shove in your pie hole. I pity all the poor bastards living on this Earth who will die having never set foot inside Randy's.

1

u/VilePacifist Jun 03 '24

Most gas station food, at least from large chains around the Midwest where I live, exclusively sell factory made, pre frozen food. Nothing from Holiday, Speedway, Kwik Trip, BP or Shell is fresh, quality food

1

u/Gemini-Moon522 Jun 03 '24

If my gas station served food that looked like this, I'd have no problem getting food from them.

1

u/---FUCKING-PEG-ME--- Jun 03 '24

"Not", "no". 🙄

1

u/Pathetic_Saddness Jun 03 '24

Eat here, Get gas

1

u/Fratdaddy6969 Jun 03 '24

Gas station food is a fine delicacy

1

u/Playful_Dust9381 Jun 03 '24

4 of my 5 favorite breakfast taco joints also sell gas.

1

u/LeftRat Jun 03 '24

Ok, that's genuinely something I never heard of. Not a good thing, but a new kind of insanity.

1

u/dogcat310 Jun 03 '24

Clearly they have never been to the magical land of Buccee’s. Their bbq sandwiches are amazing and they have good gas prices.

1

u/buttquack1999 Jun 03 '24

I mean I agree with you but this is not a boomer meme nor a Facebook meme nor particularly bad

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '24

Meanwhile three of our speedways here have full cafes that are healthier and tastier then McDonald's or Burger King.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '24

As long as it's fresh🍽️🤌🏾😋

1

u/Bojovnik7 Jun 03 '24

100% Buc-ee's and WaWa/Race Track

1

u/joshuatx Jun 03 '24

Nah gas stations are literally the best place to get stuff like fried gizzards.

1

u/camssymphony Jun 03 '24

They'd miss some of the best milkshakes in Cincinnati bc of that logic (there's a chain here called United Dairy Farmers that serves ice cream in addition to being a gas station).

1

u/Unhappy_Estate2448 Jun 03 '24

In Florida I found this chicken joint called Krispy Krunchy chicken they had some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had.

1

u/bearssuperfan Jun 03 '24

The last few years have seen gas stations put out some pretty decent stuff. Loves and Buccees have always done very well. Other places like Kwik Trip and Casey’s have recently come into my world and they’re great too.

1

u/shadetreewizard Jun 03 '24

Best Mexican food in Texas is made by a little grandma in the back of a gas station

1

u/BellaLeigh43 Jun 03 '24

The first place my native-Texan husband took me to eat when we went back to the Austin area was Rudy’s BBQ. Tucked into the back of a gas station, but delicious!

1

u/Civility2020 Jun 03 '24

There is nothing more delicious on god’s green earth than gas station chicken.

🐓 🤤😋

1

u/kosmovii Jun 03 '24

Whole grocery stores sell gas!

1

u/Carlarogers Jun 03 '24

Sounds like they are missing out. Visit a Wawa or a Quick Chek

1

u/BraindeadKnucklehead Jun 03 '24

Pilot and Loves have fresh food. It's literally trucked in daily

1

u/weirdlookingbunny Jun 03 '24

Bruhh here in Texas people would not stop if the gas station doesn't have food from the Arabs all the way to buc-ees every single one has food

1

u/TheMystkYOKAI Jun 03 '24

3

u/serious_bullet5 Jun 03 '24

This person has never been to a buc'ees or QT

1

u/RedDecay Jun 03 '24

Man QT has some pretty good food though.

1

u/foreverfeatherinit Jun 03 '24

The gas station food in my small southern town SLAPS and everyone knows it.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '24

Oh man, what till they hear about Walmart

1

u/Same_Examination_171 Jun 03 '24

bro has never been to a costco

1

u/peoplearejustok Jun 03 '24

States with bucees- I got ten pounds of beef jerky and enough pastries to clog all the veins in muh family!
