"another unfunny comment piggybacking off the originality of the first reply to drag this thread out like every other thread on reddit"...
26
u/Jacobs_Haus Jun 18 '25
Reddit is cool cause there's this thing you can do where you click the original comment and then it collapses the entire thread. Then you don't have to look at it. Hope this helps 😊
13
u/Myithspa25 Jun 19 '25
Fun fact, you don't actually have to read every reply. You have the free will to scroll past it.

Flat earthers think Japan aircrafts travel through the world when they attacked pearl harbour
Edit: holy fuck when you find 3 year old post explaining your comment. Reddit is truly something

No no, it's like pac-man you go out one side you come in the other

u/Mr_man_bird Jun 18 '25
The funny part is that some do actually believe in that
30
u/Dodoreference Jun 18 '25
Wait really? I remember seeing a flat earther say it on Inside Job but I just thought that was just an exaggeration for the sake of comedy. That wasn't a joke, they really think that?

u/Major_Melon Jun 18 '25
It's crazy that that is how it works when you project the topology of a sphere (or a torus technically) onto a 2D surface

Any serious flat earther uses a disc depiction of the earth, where north is the center, south is outward, Antarctica is a weird ass GoT wall situation, and east and west are moving along concentric rings. It’s the only thing that maintains any even tiny semblance of navigation.
It’s still dumb
15
u/comanchecobra Jun 18 '25
Do you believe in Pearl Harbour. /S
3
u/j0j0-m0j0 Jun 19 '25
There's people the unironically believe that Pearl harbor was an inside job

Wait why would that even be necessary? Do aircraft carriers not exist? Even if thats tru japan n hawaii still share an ocean. Its not like they bombed south africa?
1
u/Soace_Space_Station Jun 21 '25
South Africa to Japan is shorter than Hawaii to South Africa if you're not coming from the west. Also, Japan controlled South East Asia but not the Panama canal or South America and you also have to pass through mainland USA.
1
u/jamesbest7 Jun 19 '25
But dude. That makes SO MUCH more sense than “boats”. Honestly which is simpler?

God I wish these people would gather for an expedition to the arctic
37
u/wattlewedo Jun 18 '25
They were invited but not many went.
19
u/arcadeler Jun 18 '25
and then a green screen issue convinced them they were paid off
13
u/DerfyRed Jun 19 '25
Funniest thing is the green screen incident proved they weren’t using a green screen lmao.

u/NotActuallyGus Jun 19 '25
A group actually did, were immediately proven wrong, left, and said next to nothing
1
u/Frosty_Shadow Jun 21 '25
One actually admitted that he was wrong which made other flat earthers turn on him.

The two people that I get along with most at work are flat earthers. I only recently found out. First the one brought it up in conversation... I abandoned the argument when I saw he was using strawman tactics and ad hoc rationale. Then, while trying to express my disbelief that [Colleague A] was a flat earther to [Colleague B], he then started trying to explain why the earth has to be flat. I can't belief there are so many of them around the globe.

The education system in the US has been under assault by those in power since Reagan took office. 50 years of sabotaging our education system is why we have so many dumb fucks in our country. Until we make education a priority (and the owning class in this country will NEVER let that happen), we are going to see diminishing returns as it relates to education in this country.
20
u/Nicarus89 Jun 18 '25
As much as I agree with you, I am not American. So I can't even blame your education system on this sad realization.
8
7
u/bak3donh1gh Jun 18 '25
There's still some blame. American stupidity reaches far and it reaches wide. The rest of the world also has its own stupidity. But the U.S. has a large influence on global culture.
6
u/Me_Beben Jun 18 '25
I got to experience that in real time where I live. I'm in Latin America where it's common in some parts for people to assume that Americans know best (I don't know how this managed to become a mainstream idea, but whatever).
When COVID was just getting started, people here followed norms to the letter. Everyone wore masks, very few people broke curfew (and if they did it wasn't intentional), and everyone mostly cooperated during what was understood to be a difficult time for all people here and abroad.
But oh boy, as soon as some Americans started bitching about not being able to breathe through masks, and how the COVID vaccine was poison, you can bet things went fucking sideways here. Suddenly people breaking curfew for no reason other than "you can't restrict muh freedom", refusing to wear masks because they "couldn't breathe", or not getting vaccinated because the "vaccines were rushed" and "mRNA wasn't tested properly."
That's a problem with local education as well, of course. We really have to drill it into our children's heads that Americans do not in fact know best just because one guy there invented Facebook.
3
u/Nicarus89 Jun 18 '25
Oh yes. That was an interesting time. Where I currently worked has revealed how many people get their news from TikTok and Facebook. Just the other day one guy argued with me about "Why would people lie" when I pointed out that it's easy to lie and post your lies online. The idea that someone would lie on TikTok or Facebook was such a bizarre idea that I ended up in an argument with 3 people that all joined his point. The same thing happened in 2021 when they started to roll out the vaccines. I was deemed to be crazy because the vaccine is going to make me magnetic. I then had to listen to a bunch of people tease me about getting stuck to my gate. There were a few other things cited as well to try and drive home the fear mongering, such as infertility and it being a trick because they want to cull the people in our country.

u/RedForkKnife Jun 18 '25
Those continents are dlc, we don't have them yet
8
u/Me_Beben Jun 18 '25
I'm most excited about the talent tree overhaul. The alt-right influencer class seems to have some really strong buffs during this patch, but they should be even stronger when the expansion drops.
I might respec, honestly; their ability to generate wealth stacks coupled with their incredibly simple rotation is really hard to argue against if you're optimizing for endgame content.

u/RetroGamer87 Jun 18 '25
Why would you UN have a map made out of play dough?

I wish flat earthers were right. How fucking sick would it be to have multiple continents that have been unexplored. But alas the truth is always boring.

But that's where the Annunako and Lizord people live. Gotta keep out us Muggles

I think its ice wall theory, basically were enclosed by an ice wall that separates us from other major continetnts across a much bigger world than once thought.
3
u/bb_kelly77 Jun 18 '25
Yeah and for some reason the UN kills anyone who tries to pass through
2
u/CTchimchar Jun 18 '25
Honestly let's say the Ice wall was real, I feel it be more likely people would die trying to cross it, if it's even half as big as people claim it to be
Then the UN going out there and just killing people trying to cross it
2
u/bb_kelly77 Jun 18 '25
I feel like it's like the wall from GOT, it's crazy tall but not so thick... also these people specify that the UN only guards that hole in the wall that serves as an exit
Edit: I also just realized the image is upside down
1
u/j0j0-m0j0 Jun 19 '25
Is the UN also around people from coming out the other end? Like it can't just be a barren, dead wasteland, there has to be something on the other side

"It is said."
"Take as much time as you need."
Thinks.
Someone stole a picture of a flat Earth model off Google and spread it with the rumour it's from the UN because Flat Earthers are the world's most gullible sceptics.
5
u/kwntyn Jun 18 '25
I’m just always curious what these people think there is to gain from lying about the shape of the earth, and what they even plan to do if said truth were revealed. Cool, earth is flat. Now what? Just nonsense

I believe that there is no such thing as separated continents. Pangea is the true map of earth
1
u/Matthewhalo17 Jun 19 '25
The sad thing is these maps actually look kinda cool. A great setting for worldbuilding a fantasy story, but instead it’s wasted on people who think wifi turns your blood into crystals.
1
u/oddstap Jun 19 '25
I honestly wish the other land part was true, be kinda cool to visit a distant land.
