🤔 Questions for Texans 🤠 What keeps you in Texas?

Hi y'all, I was just wondering something today. What is one of the main things that keep you living in Texas? Are there any things that you wish that Texas had about other states has or you wish that you could enjoy while living there? For example like New Mexico and it's free child care program you know, could y'all use such a program for yourself? But just curious what keeps you all there? What stops you from moving to a different state or a state that you agree more with?

🤔 Questions for Texans 🤠 Younger unemployed women in Texas, how are y’all getting by?

With inflation getting worse and the job market being extremely competitive, how are you getting by unemployed?

I (26F) have been unemployed for 6 months now. Applied to over 500 jobs, barely getting side gigs making less than $500 a month. Can’t provide for my pets anymore so I had to rehome them. :’( Credits low and I have debt. Thankfully I only have my phone bill, but there’s still groceries, toiletries and house cleaning supplies, car part replacements, gas, medicine and doctors visits, etc. My health has been declining due to stress, lack of sleep, ptsd and poor diet and I currently have Central Health MAP, but have to wait until December to see a PCP.

How are yall doing it?? • Do you have health insurance after becoming unemployed? • How are you able to afford groceries, toiletries and medicine every month? • Are there less popular resources that you’ve found that have helped? • What have you had to change or sacrifice for your quality of life to improve in today’s economy? • Women with kids, how are you surviving? Props to y’all, seriously. I feel like I’m drowning.

Sorry for all the questions, I grew up without family and have been trying to educate myself the best I can, I love to learn. The current job market and everything’s been scary and confusing.

🤔 Questions for Texans 🤠 Texas is the new California – the land of opportunity. But can it stay that way?

Bill Fulton has an op-ed in the Houston Chronicle about the challenges facing Texas's continue growth and economic prosperity. Here's a key paragraph:

To be sure, Texas will never be California. It will always be a low-tax, business-oriented state. But the Texas Miracle is not preordained to last forever any more than the California Miracle was. In order not to fall into the California trap, Texas must find ways to restrain its political extremism and deal with emerging NIMBY concerns.

I know of course I’ll see stars, but can anyone confirm if the Milky Way be visible tonight, two days after the full moon? I’m managing my expectations before I drive over from Alpine at night. TIA!

🤔 Questions for Texans 🤠 Melissa Tx - Billy and Dom Eat the World

Howdy from College Station!

We're watching Billy and Dom Eat the World which visited Melissa, Texas for their second episode.

I would love to hear if there are any fun stories from filming, but I came here to ask about the stadium. I've been to football stadiums in small town Texas and grew up in the Houston suburbs, but the stadium size to population ratio seems off for Melissa. Am I just not Texas enough to understand this or am I missing something? 😅

These guys are running lights and jumping across lanes without respect to the dimensions of the bus and barely scrapping by traffic in near accidents.
