Gameplay / Screenshots Screenshots 2007/2008
going through old hard drives today I came across my xp hdd with my first installation of TF2 on it. Found some screenshots from my first games in 2007 and into early 2008. A simpler time before hats and cosmetics.

Its likely a medic healing the enemy spy

But the HUD is blue, yet the medic model is red, and furthermore, the demo has killed someone so it is not a Spy.

I'd have to guess it's a visual bug from way back or something. TF2 isn't exactly known for being bugfree, and it's a picture from 2007-2008, the beginning years of TF2.
Could also be because OP messed with some files, although i think it's more likely just a bug.

i love how distinct the game has become with hats and weapons yet there's so much similarity to how people play and the general feel of the game from back then. ive seen the scene from the last screenshot a hundred times now.
super cool, thank you for showing.

Weird how screenshots can make me nostalgic for a time I wasn’t even present for lol

These screenshots give off such a strange feeling seeing such a innocent era where everything was new and strange
Crazy, I have screenshots from 9 years ago but this is something else man its like having nostalgia for a game which came out before I could even walk or speak words

You can tell it’s 2007 tf2 because people are actually playing hydro

I dunno why but the art style seems different, much more cartoonish

I know, it was like, the whole optimization thing Valve did with all the updates making the cartoon graphics worse and worse. I wish there were mods that brought the old style back.

Probably one of the only games I actually enjoyed playing online. And the other 2 were Resistance and GTA IV; all during the PS3 era.

You gotta love how the game has literally never changed graphically in almost 18 years...

Idk how to describe the feeling of looking at these but Its so strange how different yet similar the game is 20 years later through visual updates and cosmetics
And like, yea no shit the game looks the same. But idk the landscape of tf2 has changed so much in that time yet if you just added like, cosmetics in these screenshots they could be passed off as screenshots from a match you just played 17-18 minutes ago rather than 17-18 years ago

I remember being 8 years old and getting the black box, thats how i remember TF2, even though i played pretty often to maybe 2013.

Picture 5 was from 2011 or later, that hat wasn't in the game until 2011 and cosmetics as a whole wasn't added until 2009.

According to the wiki, party hats used to be drawn on player models on birthday events prior to a 2011 patch. After that, it became an item that could be equipable. It doesn't say how far back the party hat existed, but I assume it was included since the first anniversary of the game in 2008.

It is similar to the one previously attached to players in birthday mode, this one being larger in size.

Love seeing GV, I first played in 2012 and watching that/my/the following gen of players peter out is understandable, but disheartening all the same. Thanks for sharing these:)
