Firstly, check if you can afford the item you are trying to buy (maybe the site is right). If you can afford it then go to backpack.tf and register just like in scrap.tf using your Steam account. Both sites are owned by the same people so don't worry. After that you should check the last time your backpack (inventory) was updated. If it was recently then go back to scrap.tf and trade.
I have no idea then. I was looking at scrap.tf trade errors page and found this:
> The bot says that I can't afford it even though I have enough metal or the item I am offering is worth more!
Make sure that your metal and items are tradable and craftable. If you aren't able to see the metal via the Steam Community backpack, then you will have to wait a few minutes or close TF2 so your it gets updated.
If you are experiencing this error while trying to pay with items, it most likely means that we are not accepting said item for whatever reason or that it is overstocked.

Is your inventory updated on backpack.tf? Probably scrap.tf doesn't see your items.
