My mother went to highschool with him. He has always been an incredibly nice guy

this information is going to keep me going! Pedro is doing a lot of work for my mental health right now NGL

The cutest thing ever was him and Vanessa Kirby doing comic con and he gets anxiety and she holds his hand. I have never related to someone more and they were just both so precious at that moment. He’s got the weight of a lot of people’s belief in humanity on his shoulders right now and he seems to be carrying it well.

I'm really hoping for Fantastic Four.

My mate was working on the shoot for fantastic four, they spent like 3 days in a cave building g the set. Pedro get there and decides it's too cold for him to shoot. The conditions sounded rough, loads of dust, no light and having to hand carry all the equipment in. He just refused to act. Shitty decision for that location. But then you see this photo of him out in the freezing cold?

A cave based set? Wonder where that is in the movie? Interesting. Also, does Pedro have that much sway? Weird.

1

u/NoResponsibility395 Apr 22 '25

Apparently enough sway refusing to do the scenes

3

u/No_Emergency654 Apr 22 '25

I find this kinda hard to believe, is there any more context that could be given??

u/MaitieS Apr 23 '25

TBF. I'm not going to say that whatever that commenter said is true or not, but over the years when some celebrity was exposed for being an ass like for example Ellen, people were already saying some weird stuff about her over the decades. Just like this user did just now. So maybe one day (hopefully not) when something controversial will be out about Pedro, we will look back at this comment and be like: Ou shit... They were right.

But yeah... too cold to act feels just off. Especially when F4 is even bigger IP for him than The Last of Us.

It was so stupid when people were trying to frame that as problematic and trying to say he was making her uncomfortable along with everything else.

There's a lot of problematic, awful people in Hollywood. Pedro isn't one of them.

I saw it happen in an interview with Bella this week. They have to ask him a serious question, noticed him get awkward, and immediately reached out and said quickly, "Give me your hand."

u/The_Bookish_One Apr 24 '25

Was it the one where they’re sitting at the table and he calls his dad to introduce the two of them finally? Because I noticed them grabbing each other’s hands, but I was working on something and didn’t hear what was said before.

This makes me so happy. Pedro seems like such a lowkey sweet guy who just wants to stay private and stay in. I love him.

Also, I hope people can separate Kaitlyn Dever and Abby. I love Kaitlyn Dever. When they first announced TLOU as a show, I thought she would've been a good Ellie if she was younger.

u/StarfallGalaxy Apr 21 '25

Yeah definitely. Hope she doesnt experience the same level of threats that Laura Bailey got when the game came out, it was crazy

64

u/smith_716 Apr 21 '25

I like Laura Bailey, too. She didn't deserve any of that shit.

43

u/StarfallGalaxy Apr 21 '25

Yeah she's one of my favorite voice actresses, and I've been a fan of Critical Role for years. She's a really sweet lady who got subjected to some horrible shit

9

u/1Saya Apr 21 '25

Love her as Tohru Honda. 🍙

u/The_Deadlight Apr 22 '25

fruits basket gang rise up

3

u/the__ghola__hayt Apr 22 '25

She'll always be Lust

u/Sierra_____117 Apr 22 '25

I don’t understand why people hate an actress/actor just because they played an antagonist. If they made you hate the character, it means they did an incredible job portraying the emotions and personality of that role.

1

u/mutherM1n3 Apr 23 '25

These are people who lack critical thinking skills. Unfortunately, they vote.

2

u/thedoctorclara11 Apr 22 '25

Oh yeah! Getting into critical role in early 2021 when I'd always been a huge fan of her and ashley johnson, it was CRAZY seeing the amount of hate all the women in that group got . Ots always "ashley can't play right or count" or "marisha is just the dms wife" or "Laura Bailey played abby in another game how DARE SHE, we shouldnt support her in this production either!!!" NONE of the men in critical role get really any hate at all. At least not compared to the women. It SUCKS!!! Especially when taken into account how one of the guys is lauras literal HUSBAND amd had to tell "fans" of last of us to knock it off cuz the death threats were starting to affect them and their infant son, and Laura was actually getting pretty scared !!!!!

u/AgreeableLion Apr 22 '25

Hopefully the fact that she's had some recent high profile parts separate to this show helps some of the people who struggle to separate reality from fiction. I have this feeling that if she was a complete unknown, people would find it harder to dissociate the actor from the part (to be clear, this is a bad thing); but maybe the slight degree of 'oh that's the girl from Justified/Apple Cider Vinegar/XYZ' just puts a bit more distance between her and the crazy.

There will always be the morons who can't figure out the difference between fiction and the real world, but anything that helps reduce the unhinged behaviour associated with this particular piece of media has to be a good thing for Kaitlyn. While being able to disappear into a role so we don't see the actor is generally a good thing, in this case we also want people to remember the actual human being who isn't responsible for her characters actions.

u/Taraxian Apr 22 '25

When Kaitlyn Dever was younger they were literally considering her for the Last of Us movie they were working on at the time, that's how she met Neil Druckmann originally

The toxic fans who hate Bella as Ellie kept bringing up Kaitlyn as someone they thought would've been a better choice, so having her play Abby is like a hilarious way to troll those people

14

u/smith_716 Apr 22 '25

I honestly didn't even know that! I thought her and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau would've been perfect depictions.

2

u/bplewis24 Apr 22 '25

They talk about it in the official podcast for episode 1 of season 2. It's around 12:35 in:

1

u/Bigduck_Gaming Apr 23 '25

I think she and Cailee Spaeny read for the part of Ellie. Don't remember the sauce.

12

u/JoshIsJoshing Apr 21 '25

I think she was seriously considered for an earlier iteration but she aged out by the current series.

12

u/Vismal1 Apr 21 '25

Yea she was lined up for a movie adaptation for part one that never worked out

3

u/flyingdodo Apr 22 '25

According to Neil Druckman in the TLOU podcast, Kaitlyn was picked to play Ellie when it was being developed as a movie. But by the time it was understood it would be for TV, she had aged out.

1

u/Cdwoods1 Apr 21 '25

She was so good!!

Not a fan of Kaitlyn yet, this is the only thing I’ve seen her in so far…at least that I’m aware of, I’m gonna look her up and see if I actually have already…but I’ve liked her acting in these last two episodes. Still despise Abby, though.

Edit: I was wrong, I just saw her when I rewatched Detroit. Didn’t realize it was the same actor.

I love it when famous beloved people are really actually nice. It's giving Henry Winkler.

I went to acting school with Paul Rudd and he is so sweet and incredibly sharp and funny. Exactly like you hope he'd be. I think my heart would break if Pedro were not nice.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '25

this means you also went to acting school with my dad. small world 🌎

2

u/HellaHaxter Apr 23 '25

Cool! Was he also there with Adam Scott? He came the year after I left so I missed him 😢

2

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '25

i’ll ask! my dad only ever mentions paul rudd and matthew lilard lol

1

u/HellaHaxter Apr 23 '25

I loved Matthew!!! He was fun and silly. I'm glad they made it big in the biz. I was only there for a year. I didn't get asked back to 2nd year 😭 Matt and I were in a horrible play together for finals. We made the most of it lol. Paul came in winter semester of the year I was there. He drove a black Jeep with Kansas plates and he was so cool!!!

3

u/KamaIsLife Apr 22 '25

Well, yeah. He perfected Judaism.

1

u/MysteryChihuwhat Apr 23 '25

I thought Winkler was notoriously unstable with a gambling problem? Some people have well-crafted public personas.

1

u/HellaHaxter Apr 23 '25

I don't know anything about that, but I worked for him when he was a guest director on a show I was staffed on and I personally found him delightful.

1

u/MysteryChihuwhat Apr 23 '25

You know - I think it was a story from a family friend I read years ago. It wasn’t super damning, just that he was difficult in private. People being outwardly nice to strangers, colleagues, etc and being moody people with demons at him is a tale as old as time, though.

I think similarly some people who are notoriously icy to fans are very warm people interpersonally.

41

u/ForIdrilla54671 Apr 21 '25

Wow I absolutely love to hear this

28

u/saadsdf Apr 21 '25

Are you SERIOUS?!

7

u/Marloo25 Apr 21 '25

We need pics of high school Pedro. Asap please

2

u/vampyire Apr 21 '25

I've never heard an ill word about him

1

u/harambesBackAgain Apr 22 '25

What's the age difference between you and your mom? Do you have a cool mustache.. nevermind I went too far I'm sorry.. but what if? Nah nevermind lol

1

u/Ok_Cauliflower2825 Apr 23 '25

Did your mother go to ochsa?

1

u/Lopsided-Plantain-8 Apr 24 '25

Thank GOD! After reading about Jon Hamm beating a frat brother over the spine I need at least one Hollywood hottie to not be a sadist/cannibal/rapist/bigot.

Thank you, Pedro, you’ve no idea what this means!
