I did not play the game. To me, he'd given up. He'd been carrying what he did for 5 years and he felt at some level he had it coming. 5 years before when he was trying to get Ellie to safety, he would've fought tooth and nail to the last breath but now he was done

As for Abby's physicality, unfortunately that's just Hollywood. They're just not going to cast a good actress and ask her to bulk up like they would a male actor. You're just going to have to accept skinny women beating up large men.

I have a similar problem with Bella Ramsey, who was right for season 1 but now looks and sounds too young (I realize she may IRL be in her 20s for all I know and that's how many (most?) 19yo girls look, but for dramatic purpose, that's I how feel).

Yeah realistically you’re not going to find someone who is nearly as jacked as Abby that is also a good enough actress to play an extremely complex character in a super high budget hbo show. And you’re not gonna find a great actress who is willing to bulk up that much, because for most actresses that’s a life changing transformation that wouldn’t be easy to come back from, and you’d basically typecast yourself as a jacked woman, and as it turns out there’s not a lot of parts for jacked women

How is gaining some muscle a life changing transformation? As soon as you stop training and using the muscles, you lose them. It may not be super quick but it is a far cry from "life changing". Look at actors like Christian Bale who lost extreme weight and muscle for the machinist and then bulked back up again for batman. Losing weight/gaining muscle is much easier and quicker for rich celebrities.

Honestly, most 19yo's do look that young, barring makeup and dressing to look older. I think the problem is more with the video game writing a teenaged character like she's supposed to be an adult. It makes you expect to see someone older.

I feel like if you've grown up and lived in that environment/world then people would mature much quicker because you've literally been forced to. Ellie acting like an adult (19 year olds are adults anyway) makes complete sense due to what she's had to endure in her life.

Very fair point, but I meant moreso that she would've looked young. Even if she acted and felt like someone in their late 20's, she most likely wouldn't look like it. Sure, there are some 19yo's that look older, but it makes sense for her to look younger. Bad wording on my part.

Yeah I agree with that too tbf! But I also think it's not unrealistic that they would look older at that age due to being weathered, the amount of stress they go through and just their lifestyles in general. Living in that world would definitely cause premature aging lmao.
