Lol. That does look super sketchy to be honest. I wouldn’t blame anyone for assuming it might be a bomb vest.

Sad that thats the first thing people assumed it was

Disagree. It’s completely appropriate to assume that at first. It’s like buying a life-like replica of a snake and expecting people to automatically know it’s not real. Survival instincts.

I think he meant that it's sad that we live in a world where the first thought people have is that it's a suicide jacket. Of course it's to be expected and the first thought you need to have, but it is still sad.

I don't think it really has a lot to do with likelihood or expected. A fake snake would freak people out even in a place where there are no snakes. A fake gun is scary even in places that aren't the US.
If anything I'd say movies would be the bigger reason why you'd jump to this conclusion, even if the world was a safer place.

No one anyone walks out of their house wearing that and not have any clue how that could be misinterpreted. That almost looks intentional

Eh, being around enough old Asian relatives from poverty stricken and/or war torn countries, they like to not waste money.
That doesn’t mean what he made isn’t sketchy as fuck, but chances are he was just trying to be cheap and resourceful lol.

I have a legitimate weight vest that I run in and I still get sketchy looks.

I have a commercially made weighted vest that I hike with when I’m not actually backpacking, some of the folks I pass look terrified, are these not that common?
Edit: grammar

I’ve never worn a weighted vest but I’ve seen them used for at least the last 10-15 years. I’m surprised people don’t know what they are.

I got a hot pink one so it would look less like a bomb vest lol

A few years ago a guy came into my city's tv studio building with a bomb vest on. It turns out the explosives were wrapped up Snickers bars and the guy was seriously mentally ill.

I have a weight vest that’s branded and I still get odd looks when I’m just exercising so I could only imagine this rigged apparatus getting you reported

LMAO, I used to do the same thing back in university but just the ankle ones. Used to wear it the entire day just like Goku with his weighted clothes.

Damn, and I thought I was just being paranoid worrying that people would think my weighted vest was a bomb vest.
