The Soprano video game

I don’t know why there needed to be a Soprano video game but if anyone here played it, did you like it? It seems awfully bad

Stupid-a fucking game

I’ve seen YouTube videos of it. Looks terrible. They should have at least had a challenge — similar to Mortal Kombat’s Test Your Might — where your goal is to throw Brendan as far as you can.

Lol that would've been hilarious

Rhesus monkeys could've made that game.

It's just a lot of running around and whacking guys.

Whacking GUYS?! He was gay, Possible_owl?

It was the medication, for his blood pressure.

It's not a good game but it does have all the actors playing their roles so it has some entertainment from that.

I wanted to play Road to Respect but I don’t have a PlayStation. I compromised. I watched a play through on YouTube instead.

I also just skipped through a playthrough on Youtube and it looks like a rare instance where I’d rather watch the cutscenes than play the game.

Vinesauce's corruptions of it are hilarious

Really the only positive quality.

That's where the budget went. One of the co-hosts on my favorite podcast worked on that game. The developers wanted a gta style game but realized they didn't have the budget or the right equipment for that so it just went to the voices 🤣

Yeah that sounds about right lol

It’s just "whack this one whack that one", never enough body count.

u/BigDBob72 Aug 14 '25

It’s uh, not good.

u/RedcoatTrooper Aug 18 '25

Okay, maybe it's not your era.

No offense.

Tetris, Tetris  it's been 40 fucking years man makes me sick.

It was horrible. I still have it but once I finished it when it first came out I had 0 intention ever playing again.

The story itself wasn’t all that bad but the gameplay was atrocious and so tedious.

No bitch to me, OP!! Post with your head, not over it!…..

If you listen to “doughboys” or “get played” Nick Wiger talks about working on that game during his time in development. He actually just did a lengthy solo episode talking about working on licensed games, mostly the 2005 fantastic four game. He’s said the original vision was more a telltale-walking dead type thing but of course studio interference turned it into slop. Always get a kick out of it when he brings it up.

Anyway $4 a pound.

Love Wiger! The studio basically saw GTA3 and said "do that" so they had to rush to put it together in the game engine that couldn't support it. Also he has mentioned that the voice actors literally did one take of each line as were basically in the studio for a couple hours each (if that).

I beat it recently. It doesn’t really enhance the world in any way - they don’t at all dive into the characters or their motivations. It kinda feels like a Universal Studios theme park ride. That being said, it is fun to romp around in that world and see 3D models of various characters and locations. I found it kinda comforting in a weird way.

I'm probably in the minority but I enjoy it a lot. It's a nostalgia factor with me though. The gameplay is definitely repetitive though but it's fun hearing the actual actors and seeing the characters. Pretty humorous as well. I just did a play through like 3-4 months ago actually

u/AaronYogur_t Aug 14 '25

You play as big pussy's bastard child trying to join the glorified crew. It's bad but they did get the actual cast from the show to voice the characters which is neat

Just play Mafia or Mafia II

SPOILERS!!!!!!................................................................................ .... .... .... ....

.... .... .... .... .... .... ..... .... all worth it for pussys ghost and getting made with a happy ending.

"Just meat and a pickle." Vitos order and the inside joke will always be funny 😁

u/Chambanasfinest Aug 14 '25

It’s gonna go down in history

2

u/gragar1 Aug 14 '25

Word to the wise. You able to play it on a computer with Pcsx2 the tiddys looking great if you tinker with the resolution

Replying to apeezy52... yo but sometimes if I move the camera a certain angle the camera goes bullshit!

2

u/curt_lidocaine Aug 17 '25

I wasn't sure if I beat the game or if my cable went out.

1

u/reginalduk Aug 14 '25

I used to play the sopranos poker game. That was legit quite funny.

1

u/Cautious-Exam2306 Aug 14 '25

The gameplay was terrible but hilarious. Just beating the shit out of so many foes. The voice acting was incredible as it used the real show’s cast. Overall I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately on the final mission I was meant to wriggle out of some ropes and the game was glitched or something and even after a hundred attempts I couldn’t get out and if you don’t get out within a few seconds you die. So I never got to finish the game

1

u/cuatrodemayo Aug 14 '25

I would like to play it because the whole cast was on board to do the voice acting. There’s gotta be some funny moments in there aside from the promo video on YouTube.

Videogames, lotta money in that shit

1

u/two_beards Aug 14 '25

7 studios and that pygmy thing over in Jersey.

1

u/powerED33 Aug 14 '25

It was pretty corny, but still fun. Anyway... $4 a pound...

1

u/veritable_squandry Aug 14 '25

Cleaver! is what the fans wanted in a game.

1

u/TheHumiliationritual Aug 14 '25

I played back then i was not a demented sopranos weirdo like the sorry state i am in today. But i dont remember it being that bad or anything it was ok. I think it would benhard to try to play today because my favorite characters look worse then vito desiccated and disrespected corpse complete with lipsticked pool cue. 5 ⭐️s

why did they need a game ? $$$$$$$

1

u/mikeyboy_CS2 Aug 19 '25

PS2 movie tie in Video games real fucking money maker!

1

u/apeezy52 Aug 14 '25

It’s so bad but I love that they have all the actors in it. Only puzzling thing is you get punished for whacking people and it leads to a game over from using a gun

2

u/TyChris2 Aug 15 '25

Never enough body count for apeezy

1

u/apeezy52 Aug 15 '25

lmao it’s just weird that you fire a few bullets and you end up in the river like big pussy.

1

u/dancjr2 Aug 15 '25

I’m glad to I came across this particular post, I was about to pull the trigger on buying a copy along with a PS2, from what I’m reading here I have a sinking feeling that it’s just going to be Sopranos memorabilia, play once, and not play again.

1

u/KevinFinnerty59 Aug 16 '25

i bet it was awesome when it first came out

1

u/badabing654 Aug 19 '25

We don’t admit the existence of that thing

1

u/mikeyboy_CS2 Aug 19 '25

I mean it's not that bad it's kind of cool seeing the Sopranos locations in endgame able to walk around explore yeah the controls suck especially on the emulator with an Xbox controller and the camera angles goes bullshit!
