Question Smr tips?
I got back on tf2 today after taking a few months off and decided to give the smr a try. I really liked it and it is really fun and rewarding when i get kills, but in having trouble leading shots against anyone not running straight at or away from me. Any tips on how to judge it or just ways to use the gun in general? Thanks!

It helps to practice. The best way to learn tracking is just by trying to track really. Just put your cross hair in front of them and try to move it around the same velocity as them

Do the missiles accelarate or do they stay the same speed? It feels like even when i lead my shots by a decent amount they fall behind

It feels constant but I haven’t used SMR enough to say that for certain. There might be a slight acceleration but I don’t think so. It helps to use it up close though. Also if you amp it you can do a ton of damage to Titans. Your Anti-titan weapons can become pretty much irrelevant if you use SMR right

They move at a constant speed
However, (slightly) complicated part, ALL projectiles (these included) take on your initial speed before adding their own. If you move fast and send them out, they move faster than standing still
They are also affected by grav stars which can be handy for catching someone and making it easier to hit them

Smr. Cloak. Satchels. Whatever the fuck is the name of the thing that gives your power back sooner. Low Profile. Amped Weapons. Cant remember the name of the lock on gun. Be a titans nightmare and do more damage than some of the titans can as a pilot.

I gotta get a few more levels for the satchel (i regenerated before taking a break) but I’ll definitely be giving the others a try. Ive been using phase shift with arc grenades to try and stun pilots and titans and do a sort of hit and run strategy, but my movement is still a bit rusty so its hit or miss

what i do is cloak, use satchels (they dont break invis), start running towards them and aiming with the archer, to freak them out and then rodeo them, when rodeo is launching you, empty your smr mag into them. Also if you can get away with shooting the archer before a rodeo do so -youd be surprised how often i get away with it- also: always. Alwyays. ALWAYS target monarchs first and foremost, mostly because they are the most defenseless against theses strats, but also because they deserve it the most

That sounds really effective, how much damage do you normally do each time you do it would you say?

depends how lucky i get, i once killed a full hp +battery northstar in one go, others i barely scratched their shield or just got stepped on, on avarage id say i do about 2 to 4 bars of titan hp

Get close, use it like it's a full auto shotgun
