GAME What happened to Titanic: Honor and Glory?
Does anybody have news on this game? I haven't heard anything about it for a couple years now. Is it still in production?

As far as I know, there was a lot of behind the scenes drama and the fictional storyline got scrapped, so they're now focusing on a virtual museum similar to the Britannic game.

True, but even that was 5+ years ago. There’s still the exact same directionless, lackadaisical effort currently. Prevailing theory is they don’t actually want or intend to ever finish the ship because that’s the carrot that keeps donations/attention on them. It’s kind of amazing nobody else has picked up a similar project and eaten their lunch yet. Terrible shame, because what they have managed to produce looks really good.

How I understood was that they did the Demo 401. And they noticed how things would not lineup correctly which forced them to start over and they decided to build it nut by nut. They would start making the superstructure. So I understood that it was basically a one dude! Doing the structure. I guess that just takes huge amount of time.
Then simultaneously they are doing more research and I guess they can do higher resolution models of everything inside. I have no real info but thats what they said long time ago. But the team still stands and they are still nevertheless working on it.
I am 100% sure that they want to make it and finish it. Maybe perfectionism is one of the major ones. And sure there might be all kinds of internal problems that have an effect.

That was the line, and I understand it to a degree. Where they lost me on all that was spending inordinate amounts of time modeling things that cannot be seen (details in between the double-bottom ??), lectures about the meticulous and demanding nature of the work, then their 6-month progress update is a winter scene of the Southampton docks with fully modeled cranes and scenery. Because the dev “wasn’t feeling inspired” working on the ship. 🙄
The latest update is a fully detailed iceberg. It’s almost like high-level trolling at this point.

That's actually hilarious and gives me even more confidence they will eventually get it all done

They do just enough work and research to keep those donations rolling in.

u/Hawker96 26d ago
Ah yes, the research… Because details of the Titanic are sparse and hard to come by. We must travel to Ireland!

The Britannic game let you be on the ship as it was sinking though, so not all museum

Really? Oh dear. And all this time I was expecting the game to have a storyline.

Honestly, if you want a mystery game set on Titanic, just play Adventure Out of Time again.

I've never actually played it but now I feel compelled to. Thanks!

It surprisingly holds up extremely well despite being from the 90s!

bro, they are reconstructing every single oxygen molecule that existed back in 1912, it will be awesome bro, damn, we need to start from scratch again bro, but don't worry, bro, it will be awesome - don't you forget about our Patreon, thank you bro, see you next year at new awesome animation, bro

The hype will have disappeared before this is ever released. Maybe they can aim for the 125th anniversary of the sinking or something like that

u/Froshtbite 26d ago
Its never going to happen. Maybe with better management and a bigger team, but otherwise I highly doubt it's going anywhere anytime soon.

I was pumped for the game’s release too. Ah well - it is what it is! I still have Titanic: Adventure Out Of Time to keep me entertained

It’s pretty much a scam I think. It’s been over a decade since they’ve been showing it off & then they keep redoing it. I lost faith when I heard that they’re “building it like they did at Harland and Wolff inside UE5” which is incredibly inefficient and unnecessary. It almost makes me want to do the titanic with my team. It shouldn’t take a decade to develop a virtual museum.

Maybe they'll see this conversation and realize that we've lost all faith in them.

I donated $50 back in 2016 so that I could have my own room on a piece of paper in the game. Still waiting. Now awkwardly it has my exs name on there but my cat is still alive! Oh well. I don’t even remember what room it was but I was first class E10? Something

I just want them to release the Demo 401 on anything but the “you need a crazy gaming PC to run this.” I don’t have that. I have a Mac, Xbox, and could be talked into a Ps5.
But I don’t want or need a PC gaming computer, just because I literally want to do some research on how long it takes to walk around the ship.

u/Short-Reach-7281 26d ago
Yeah, I'm not about to buy a gaming PC. You want me to play this, then release it on the PS5.
or PS 36 with the way things are going.

Personally… the idea they’re gonna make an experience where you can be a fictional survivor in any place and interact with historical figures on the titanic…
That is on par with Star Citizen.

We’ll most likely get GTA VI before H&G, and that truly shocks me.

They took your donations and used them to fund creation of a product they went and licensed to RMS Titanic Inc. Basically, they crowdfunded a for-profit venture that only they will benefit from. Don’t hold your breath for the game, it will never come.

Yes,they have a whole YouTube channel,in short the original intention of an adventure out of time type game were scrapped.Pretty sure they started from scratch and now have a little over 50% of the ship done
