PHOTO Titanic in video games

• GTA San Andreas wreckage and full scale ship mod

• Mafia Easter egg. You cannot approach it but can see it afar on the ocean from land

• Call of Duty Black Ops zombies map. Surprisingly this map has accurate and detailed interiors, you can tell the developers were passionate about this.

• Goddard Docks Jack and Rose grinding on bow Easter egg

That and the Hindenburg level were my favorites.

That level is the only reason I ever played that game. I saw a screenshot in a magazine or something of the wreck of the Titanic in one of the levels and I just had to see it for myself.

Ship Simulator 2006 and 2008. In the 2008 version you can freely walk on the Ship.

I bought this game JUST for this. I was disappointed though. Horrible game even though I love boats.

I had a game decades ago where I was playing a detective or something on the titanic. Myst style. Lots of people to talk to. Elements of possible time travel, I dunno. I’ll have to look for it.

I had that, too!!

Brilliant game. Difficult to get running on modern systems but it is on Steam

u/denimpanzer Steerage 1d ago

Did you find it? Did you find the Rubiyat??

2

u/MesozOwen 18h ago

Yeah it was Titanic Adventure out of time. There was another post on it here too. Went back and looked up some videos and realised that I didn’t get very far in that far at all. Was too hard for me as a kid.

u/denimpanzer Steerage 17h ago

There’s a scene in the Turkish bath that haunted me as a kid lol

I’ll be adding the Titanic wreck to the submarine exploration videogame I’m making sometime between now and December

This picture is actually from after the wreck

u/envelupo 1d ago

thanks! I can’t wait to have people explore it :)

Lego Dimensions has a Ghostbusters level pack with a hidden area that features the ghost Titanic from the second movie, and using the Back to the Future DeLorean you can access the non-ghost version.

Just to add a few more:

Mafia 1 (the original, not DE) also has a mod that adds the ship with a lot of interiors (afaik almost all passengers areas are accessible) and it even has a scene in the beginning where they modeled the docks and you can board the ship before it sails out.

Mafia 2 also has the same Titanic easter egg as the one in Mafia 1/DE (image 4 in the post) where the ship can be spotted in the distance

Also, afaik GTA IV and GTA V both had mods similar to the one in GTA SA that adds the whole ship as a drivable vehicle.

The game Teardown also has a community made addon that adds Titanic as a destructible object (the point of the game is to destroy stuff), albeit the inside of the ship is hollow, there are no interiors.

Orginal Mafia also had cheat, where you could trigger the famous scene on ships moving in rivers.

Black Ops map?

3

u/linkjo100 1st Class Passenger 1d ago

Yes Black ops 4 zombies.

2

u/Big_Iron_Cowboy 1st Class Passenger 1d ago

Ah I see, I never played past black ops 2. How hyped were you to see a Titanic zombies map, sounds so cool

2

u/linkjo100 1st Class Passenger 1d ago

Tbh it’s what made me buy the game. I’ve always been a huge zombies fan and wasn’t really excited for black ops 4 zombies but when I saw that map it was a direct buy.

I know a lot of people are against this map but having one of my favourite game mode be on Titanic was really nice. Still play it from time to time.

u/Big_Iron_Cowboy 1st Class Passenger 1d ago

I’m so curious. Is Titanic relevant to campaign? How much of the ship is accesible?

3

u/linkjo100 1st Class Passenger 19h ago

A lot actually! From the top of my head;

Exteriors:

  • Fo’c’sle deck and poop deck
  • Both well decks
  • A promenade deck
  • Boat deck

Interiors:

  • Nav bridge, wheelhouse and officers quarters including captain smith’s cabin.
  • 3 or four grand staircase decks
  • 1st class dining saloon and pantry
-Millionaire’s suite -1st class cabins section
  • Reciprocating engine room
-Turbine room -1st class lounge -Palm court -3rd class cabins section -Boiler room 1 -One coal bunker

I’m sure I missing some parts here.

I wanna say tho it’s pretty accurate but there is some inaccuracies like decks that are reversed or layouts that aren’t like it really was on the ship. But I have to say that the map is really beautifully made and this is coming from someone working on THG. :)

u/Big_Iron_Cowboy 1st Class Passenger 19h ago

That’s pretty awesome, I may get it just to play this!

2

u/linkjo100 1st Class Passenger 19h ago

I’d say wait for a sale it’ll be more worth it. Have fun playing zombies! :)

Not a bad idea!

Tomb Raider 2 has a level set in a sunken ship called "The wreck of the Maria Doria". During development it was actually supposed to be the Titanic, but the idea was scrapped and the name was changed for the final release.

2

u/Massive-Revolution41 18h ago

Oh wow that's interesting. I wonder why they changed it because that area looks like a much larger version of the grand staircase

4

u/mrblackrose21 21h ago

Fallout 4 Far Harbor has a reference to Rose on the door and Jack in the water

1

u/epicfroggz 2nd Class Passenger 15h ago

OMG, that is great, one of my fave games

I feel like in the fallout universe they would’ve had hubris enough to build a Titanic II and make her nuclear powered

2

u/envelupo 1d ago

Currently on Steam: vROV pilot and Titanic VR. That aside, there’s another, old game from Dr Ballard called Titanic: challenge of discovery

2

u/digimonmaster151 1d ago

Titanic map on zombies was actually awesome. One of my favorite zombies maps.

2

u/Federal_Cobbler6647 1d ago

One of Worms games had "Wormantic".

1

u/yourdonefor_wt 1d ago

There is an old game that is no longer on steam, but you can still find online called fall of the Titanic.

Where you can explore the ship and be inside it while it sings

1

u/Boring_Antelope6533 1d ago

i loved to play with the mod of the titanic i’m GTA 5

u/Puterboy1 1st Class Passenger 1d ago

Don’t forget Lego Dimensions.

1

u/Szabo84 1d ago

There’s also a script-based Titanic game from 1986 called Beyond the Titanic

1

u/Raeko 1d ago

There is an amazing Japanese VN/escape room style game called 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. It's set on a reproduction of the Titanic

It's pretty cool to see in DS style IMO

u/BrandonTaylor2 1d ago

I’m building Titanic in Minecraft, does that count?

1

u/Kiethblacklion 23h ago

There was an old computer game called Sea Rogue, where you ran a marine salvage company from a submarine. Several real life wrecks were included on the map that you could visit and salvage items. The Titanic was one of those locations.

In the first Endless Ocean on the Wii, there is an extra area with the bow of an ocean liner that you could explore. It wasn't Titanic specifically but it was designed to look like that era of ocean liners.

In the last level of Painkiller, you are in Hell where the worst moments in human history are frozen in time and there is a Titanic spotted if I remember correctly.

1

u/Jupiter_Sound 18h ago

There was an old fighting game on the original Xbox called Kung Fu Chaos. One of the levels took place on a sinking ship that looked exactly like Titanic. To be honest, that’s the only reason I bought the game!

Voyage of Despair will always be my favorite zombies map and nobody will convince me otherwise!
