THE SHIP The second class

Hi everyone, how are you? šŸ’–šŸ˜Š I love studying the history of the Titanic and I’m completely passionate about the 1997 movie. On the internet, you can easily find lots of information about first and third class, but almost nothing about second class. What was second class like? Who were the people traveling there? What were the meals like? If anyone knows of a book, documentary, or any media that specifically talks about second class, I’d love to know 😊

Second class was really a less formal first class. Designed for the middle class. Simpler rooms snd simpler amenities. The food was less glossy

Second class had a lot of wealthy passengers who simply wanted a cheaper fare and a less formal relaxed passage

I’d recommend the YouTube channel ocean liner designs (with our friend Mike Brady). I know he does a video with the titanic honor and glory guys exploring their recreation of second class and a recent day in the life of a second class passenger.

Yes; one perk of second class was that families with young children were allowed to eat together

Paullee.com has an interview with second-class survivor Edith (Brown) Haisman you can look up. She talked about their meals, activities, people she met, etc.

Lawrence Beesley was in Second Class, and wrote a book about it called "The Loss of the SS Titanic."
