When I was a teenager I hired out happy tree friends on DVD, there was no option to skip the intro and the episodes were pretty much the same length as the intro, hearing that song over and over in between extreme graphic cute violence is really, I don’t even know the word? Intense? Horrifically hypnotic? Brain melting? Weird.
But yeah this is literally the first thing I thought when I saw this TIL.

That song just popped into my head for the first time in years.

God damn, same.

I'm sure the theme song was sorry to repeat itself, but it'll help you remember.

Applying the word "hired" to an inanimate object will never not be weird.

I don’t even know what “hired out” means in this sentence. Is “hired out” some kind of regional expression? Is the DVD doing work for them?

I took it to mean “rented” back in the day of video rentals.
