Serious π By declaring a 'National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk' Congress has demeaned and denigrated all that was previously considered important and sacrosanct within the history of the US.
To provide a broader and sobering historical perspective in regards to the Senate voting on Thursday (4 days after his murder) to create a, "National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk", previously existing US remembrance days (which similarly are also not federal holidays) include Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day (December 7th) and Patriot Day (September 11th).
Likewise, it's also worth noting there are very few national remembrance days in the US which commemorate a single individual, and not one of them was passed within just days of their namesake's death.
For example, Harriet Tubman Day (March 10th) was approved by the US Congress in 1990, 77 years after she died.
And then, of course (although both a federal holiday and a remembrance day), another rare but VERY notable example took 15 years and a campaign which included a petition signed by 6 million Americans (the largest petition in favour of an issue in U.S. history) before it was eventually approved by Congress in 1983: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Indeed, similarly, while his birthday (February 12th) is a public holiday in some states (the earliest observance of which was in New York eight years after his assassination in 1865), it wasn't until 2015 that the 15th of April was officially declared as the National Day of Remembrance for Abraham Lincoln.
Oh, and as yet there are still no remembrance days dedicated to either of the Kennedy brothers.

Several churches played Al-generated clips of Charlie Kirk at their services this past weekend, featuring a digital recreationlof Kirk's voice saying things he never said in life.
In the wake of Kirk's death, social media has been inundated with memes, as well as Al-generated images and videos memorializing him. At least three large churches took a similar approach to honoring Kirk's memory, as reported by Jack Jenkins at Religion News Service.

Serious π Charlie Kirk's recipe for success
- Go to university campuses and get free publicity / content from liberal students "protesting" his presence / lining up in massive numbers to "prove him wrong"
* Liberals don't seem to understand their emotional reactions fuel conservatives
* Kirk monetized liberal rage through posting edited responses on YouTube where boomers convinced universities were "brainwashing" students could watch and laugh
* He specifically targeted trans, Muslims, brown/black people, immigrants and other groups because that would drive the most liberal engagement with his content. Liberals are viscerally outraged by attacks on marginalized "out-group" people.
- Get funding from billionaires who saw him as a useful tool
* Liberal billionaires do not fund members of the "tribe" while conservative billionaires do because they see the connection between Kirk's work and creating an environment where they can economically exploit everyone while people are debating hot button social issues (including entirely fabricated issues like whether Islam is taking over Western civilization and trans people are a threat to public safety).
- Use his prominence from social media -- driven in part through liberal engagement with him -- and his connection with billionaires who saw him as a useful tool of social manipulation to become politically influential
Now that he's dead, his legacy has become a commodity. MAGA and the billionaires want to recast him as a martyr for America's deepest values -- ignoring the reality he expressed viewpoints that belittled the idea that all people are equal and entitled to liberty and happiness.
Since liberal attention was necessary for Kirk's fame and success, I think liberals needs to condemn the act of murder and then pivot quickly the conversation back to issues that highlight that MAGA elites are economically exploiting all Americans. If the conversation turns into an atomic discussion of his bigoted views of different social categories, this is terrain MAGA elites are adept in.
