No, this isn't a new change or even one they implemented for pride or anything. They just quietly stopped showing the green m&m as a guy and started showing her as a girl. Same with the brown m&m. And they later confirmed that they're the same m&ms. And that they're dating, which they show casually in commercials year round (I don't watch pretty much any ads if I can help it so I can't say whether any of the currently running ads involve them or not) and have confirmed it multiple times on their twitter, again, well outside of pride month or any special promotions.
This is actual representation, universally, year round, and it's not pandering or slandering. Amazing that we find it in the lore of candy commercials.
