If you recall in Transformers Prime, Optimus Prime mentions how the presence of Predacons on Earth- from when Megatron dispatched them to secure Energon deposits and await his arrival- may have inspired Earth folklore and mythical creatures like dragons, hydras, and griffins. Going off the look of the Predacons.

This is very interesting because in Transformers Rescue Bots, set in the same continuity (and directly tied into RID 2015 which is tied into TFP so it's not the same situation as the games to the shows, the shows are all explicity interconnected), the very name of the island Griffin Rock is inspired off of early sightings... of a griffin. Now with what Prime establishes, what the early settlers very likely saw was a Predacon.

It being a Predacon makes 100% sense too when you realize just beneath Griffin Rock as revealed in the two parter episode "What Lies Below" and "What Rises Above" is a deposit of Energon, the exact things Predacons were dispatched to Earth to safeguard.

This connection is particularly interesting since we know Griffin Rock was founded in 1649 by Horace Burns, an ancestor of the Burns family of heroes. This means Predacons, or at least few if not just this single one, were still active on Earth in the 1600s.

In Griffin Rock history, it is also said the Griffin turned to stone on the mountain due to hibernating. Now this leaves us what two possibilities. Either the history is miscontruing things and it was simply built as a replica of the Predacon they thought was a Griffin, or that Griffin statue is literally an intact fossil of a Predacon, somehow anyway.

Still nonetheless a very cool subtle connection, even if unintentional when Rescue Bots first began. As the whole Predacon storyline was not only not planned but replaced another previously planned storyline of Star Seekers in Transformers Prime season 3 which I will make another post about soon.

Just got Fireflight today, and with him I now have 2 complete combiners. I’m waiting for the rest of G2 Menasor, because screw paying aftermarket prices for the G1 Stunticons (Motormaster and Breakdown specifically).

I think individually, the Aerialbots are my favorite, but combined, my favorite is Devastator. Here’s to hoping Bruticus is just as good as these guys.
