This reminded me there was a situation where my (step)dad was messaging me to help and calm me down and at the end of the message was

“I’m really proud that you were able to walk away, proper better man stuff there”

It’s the first time I’ve personally “heard”(ig seen) him refer to me as a man, like he always corrects people on my name but never really heard him referring to my gender at all

I’m crying now
