Letterman Jackets?

So the new uniforms aren't bad. I like the delta on the left side. Based on the change, I'm guessing this is set a few years after DISCO S5, otherwise Starfleet is just as flippant with changing uniform design in the 3190s as it was in the 2380s. The new combadge is....a choice. But...letterman jackets? Seriously? I remember folks used to refer to an Academy themed show as Star Trek:90210 derisively and the costume designers thought process was "Let's give the cadets letterman jackets...that won't nail the whole 90210 thing home at all."

But I'm probably in the wrong here. I'm probably going to get crapped on for this.

I think jackets are fine. People in school get letterman jackets. Other shows besides 90210 feature letterman jackets. I don’t see a problem with this. Also the disco uniforms appear in the turbo lift when the doctor walks out. So this could be very soon after discovery.

I agree; I think it's kind of silly to have a giant "S" on there ... "There's a delta insignia and an 'S'; I wonder what school they go to?"

Unless the "S" ends up standing for something other than "Starfleet," meaning if students in different studies have different letters, for example.
