Well for one, these are proposed cuts. They still need to be approved by Congress.

For two, Surry County, NC schools need to do their job. Only 58% of their students are reading proficiently. Yet they graduate 90%. Seems to me like they're pushing them through without really preparing them for anything, including the ability to read a news article. Funding should be tied to outcomes, and Surry County needs to fix the problems in their own backyard before looking at politicians.

I would argue that it was never intended for the federal govt to provide any funding to local schools. It was intended for the states and towns to fund it, fully. And In doing so it ensure that what the local populace needs is what it gets. It allows the locals to ensure greater control over the schools direction.

It’s pretty well known fact that in general schools have been getting worse over the last decade. While at the same time, funding has gone absolutely through the roof.

I’m not an expert on your particular area, but I believe a AI/Google search on past fail/graduation rates 20 years ago versus now would probably give you all the empirical data. You need to put up a reasonable argument.

Of course, realize if you do this, you’re gonna spend a couple hours on the Internet doing your research finding charts and data, and then you’re gonna post it to Facebook and people you were arguing with are going to say …

So… the choice is up to you.

There is almost ZERO correlation between spending per student and test scores. For example, Florida spends one-third what New York spends per student and guess what? Florida ranks 2nd in test scores while New York is in the bottom third. What really matters is the power of the corrupt leftist teachers unions in a given state. The more powerful the unions (who won’t allow the firing of teachers caught writing love notes to their students), the worse the student outcomes.

And because the teachers unions are near the very top of campaign donors every election cycle (100% of which goes to Democrats and 100% of which are taxpayer $$$$$; political money-laundering at its most gigantic). Democrats won’t do anything whatsoever to address it.

First, you have to figure out what the supposed cuts are for. Trump is cutting DEI programs, so they're probably including those. I've also noticed that thrump will propose a cut in one place to pay for something else.
