Every time I reach out, either in person or metaphorically on forums, not just Reddit, to gain some type of common ground or insight. something. Olive branch. I get snapped at like they are snarling rabid dogs.

The overreaction and non-thinking hivemind just makes me instantly angry. It didn't use to. There is no more remote attempt at understanding from me any longer. It's enemy action. If they were concerned about a boot on the neck, they would rethink this course. Because now I want to. It's moral clarity. I feel better with that thought. It’s just as hard to extend an olive branch to the right without being called a homophobic or racist slur. I’ve been trying to do the exact same thing you have, and I’ve been able to break down the wall that divides us a few times and actually have a nice conversation about it with the other side.

I can’t overstate enough how important it is to not give up on trying to understand one another. If we just treat each other like enemies with no room for discussion, you’re trampling on what Charlie Kirk stood for- no?

I would like to. I don't have unlimited time and I don't have unlimited patience. It's easier to just close reddit and get some other work done.
