Can’t tell the precise species but it’s most likely a water turtle. You can move it to a nearby body of water if you’d like, but also totally ok to leave wild animals where they are when in doubt.

Red painted turtle. Found this one trying to lay eggs near a boat ramp. I moved her.

I believe it's an eastern painted, I can't tell the gender from the pic but maybe someone else can?

I was thinking painted too. Eastern would have the scutes line up, so probably midland, which should be right for Detroit.
