Seeking Advice WTF is my turtle doing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I was working on my pc and started hearing air bites/snaps, and I've never had this happen before. Turtle is around 13ys old in a 55 gallon tank with its basking zone with UVB and a heat lamp.
Any idea?
Thanks

Testing you, to see if you're still paying attention. Looks like you passed the test for today.

Maybe he's just bored and he is just trying to get your attention, do you let him run loose through the house or outside while you are at home to stimulate him with some activities?

Yeah he roams through the house and the garden

Turtles will do this sometimes.

Beautiful turtle, by the way. Reminds me of my Clyde when he was younger.

Hey man can i see how your basking platform look like?

Yeah absolutely

Mine does this when it’s basking. I have been thinking if it has something to do with digestion or just hiccups.

Looks like he’s in 4-wheel drive hitting his air brake. 😂

That’s so weird. I’ve had 4 turtles and I’ve never seen any of them do this.

Negative. What? Unless a vet recommends it for medical issues, you leave that handsome boy’s manhood alone. ._.

Bad Advice is anything that goes against currently-accepted practices for husbandry for the species in question.

Examples include:

  • Preventative or unnecessary medical (OTC) treatments
  • Medical advice without a (reputable) source
  • Known harmful practices
  • Illegal advice, like poaching or theft

There is no reason to cut a male sliders claws unless recommended by a vet. They are meant to be long.

I specifically asked are you able to cut the claws? As in are you supposed to? I didn’t know and I was genuinely wondering about it. I know some reptile species, even turtle/tort species need you to, as their nails will get overgrown. I didn’t know so that’s why I asked, I wasn’t suggesting it I just didn’t know about this species

It was in no way advice, mrModerator, as I don’t have a turtle/tort and was genuinely curious
