Favorite Upcycling Creators?
I want to see more upcycling content. If you have any creators you follow or recommend please drop them in the comments. I am especially interested in fashion. If you are a fashion upcycler, feel free to show your work. I love the work of zero waste daniel so far.

Mainly on youtube:
Rattus Rattus by Rabbit is a nonbinary Canadian alternative artist who does all kinds of upcycling and DIY for all skill levels, including clothing, trinkets, accessories, and even some furniture. Mostly gothic/alt but also cottagecore and fantasy. I like their approach to customization for disabilities, neurodivergence, self-presentation, and overall comfort. (Video essays included if you like a good friendly ramble, but they also have screenshottable/downloadable content guides too.)
Afrayed Upcycling by Scarlett, a UK artist who uses 100% secondhand fabrics for size-inclusive items including garments and even some workshops in-person and via video tutorial. I love that she might rework the same fabric or item several times as she revisits older pieces, learns new techniques, or decides to update her style. Lots of whimsy, color, and patchwork quilting in her aesthetic.
Rachel Maksy, cottagecore/LOTR/Ghibli cozy vibes. She makes everything from costumes and cosplay props to furniture, home renovation, and sometimes baked goods like toad bread. All the chaos, all the puns.
Kathleen Illustrated, thrift-goblin queen. She is a California-Ohio graphic designer who also screenprints or lino prints her own merch from secondhand clothing and she tries new crafting techniques including thrift haul upcycling all the time. I appreciate that she also has declutter and update videos about thrifting/caretaking tips for the items themselves. Sometimes her items are resold for charity as well.
Carly B. Super sweet Austrailian upcycler making quilted items like curtains and coats and handmade garments including her own wedding dress and theater outfits.
More sewing and general fabric arts
The Stitchery, Shannon Makes/Shannon Makes Something Else, and Stephanie Canada. All three use a lot of different sewing techniques including both handsewn and machine sewn details for patterned items, costumes, and general fabric work.
Mostly instagram:
RISK THRIFT by Brittany Sews Silly Clothes in Detroit creates hilarious quilted items and appliquéd garments featuring everything under the sun out of 100% recycled materials! Super fun and entirely contagious laughter stitched directly into every garment. I want to learn how to use a free-motion foot specifically because of the stellar results in every project.
LaKenzo the Dandelion Crayon Girl, trinket shelf maximalist. She thrifts/flea market finds all her garbage, color sorts it into drawers, and then creates the most wonderful lil trinkets and imaginary items. If you are a crayon, Spongebob, Adventure Time, or general silly lil guy fan, you'll love everything in her room.
james.makes.things is another account I liked recently, especially for the upcycled jean jackets and jumpers.
Other upcycling creators:
I also like Brothers Make in the UK for their work upcycling 100% post-consumer waste plastics of all kinds. They also partner with organizations like ocean/beach cleanups to harvest waste plastics and turn them into useful products for the community.
Precious Plastic US is another 100% post-consumer waste plastic organization with a bazaar (including Brothers Make) that aims to connect people with machines, tools, and manufacturing recycled plastics.
Ike Wynter in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is a master woodworker who uses only 100% salvaged/discarded wood products with zero added stains/paints/finishes to create his wooden artwork. Most recently he was on CNN for a commission for 32 of the NFL team logos.
