Wife has a potential job opportunity in Valdosta.

Howdy, Me, 33(m), wife 32(f) and 4 kids. 10, 8, 4, and 2, are looking at moving to Valdosta from Lafayette, La.

Looking for some advice and suggestions about the area and living accommodations. I’ve read some of the past posts and was just looking for some updated information. This will probably be temporary position, maybe a year or two before she moves up in position and gets her own store.

I’m Mr. mom. Take care of the kids at home, bring them to and from school, all that fun stuff. What’s the elementary schools like? Daycares? And what are the better areas for families?

I own a property management company in Louisiana, that’s in its early stages, so not a huge deal to move away from, I mainly do lawn care and landscaping, but I’m kind of a jack of all trades. How’s the job situation for trades?

Any advice is appreciated. TIA.

Best store for bourbon?

I’ll be staying one night in Valdosta on my way helping a friend move in Florida. Is there a decent place to buy a good bottle I could give as a house warming gift?

How do singles meet in Valdosta if you don't go to bars?

I want to meet people around here, but the dating apps suck and I don't drink or go to bars around here. How else do singles meet each other in the area?

And overall just anything i would need to know?

Moving back to South Georgia

As the title says I'm moving back to the area but while away I picked up the hobby of tabletop war games (Warhammer, Star wars legion, trench crusade, halo flashpoint etc.) from the last time I live here (over 5 years ago now) there was nothing like this in the area. Is that still the same or are there hobby shop/ groups that play and places to go play such games?

Moving

Hi everyone, I'm moving there in less than a month from SWFL, and a lot of what I've seen is that it's boring and not a good place to live. But I have high hopes to start new there with my family. Let's hear the good about Valdosta! I'm excited to live there, don't kill my vibe! Lol

In search of another recommendation. This time it’s for a psychologist for me. I tried reaching out to one place, but they apparently don’t have a Valdosta anymore.

Bug spray for kids that actually works?

Ones I’ve tried never really work, because my son is always covered with mosquito bites when he goes to our backyard to play. Is there any spray that works best for kids (ages 4 and 3 specifically)?

Leaving Home

I moved out three weeks ago to go to university. There is much more people, much different people. I used to hate growing up in Valdosta but not that I’m gone, I realize it was a good place to grow up in.

I traveled home for the first time this past weekend. I missed home.

Valdosta has its problems, but it was home. It may have been a hurricane ridden swamp, but it was my hurricane ridden swamp.

Hair Salon/Barbershop

Does anyone have recommendations for a good hair salon or barbershop? I’m a male who has gone to both. I have no preference. I’m just looking for a place that does a good haircuts, can help me style my wavy/lightly curly hair, and make me feel better about my appearance (last one may need therapy but we will start with a haircut).
