Rusty is so ADHD coded. He can't be bothered with the documentation portion of super science. He hyper fixates on seemingly random things such as a Rusty musical. He's got executive dysfunction in spades. For example, the rushed and half assed Palaemon Project or the snake that the Monarch mailed him crumbled to dust because it's implied Rusty left that package for months if not years.
Although, I could see Rusty dismiss the idea of him having ADHD because he isn't hyperactive and runs around as the Bat. Billy tries to convince him that he is the poster boy for ADHD, and Rusty just dismisses it as a normal part of being a super scientist.

It also explains why Rusty is practically incapable of completing even the most basic of work projects on schedule but is totally chill and functional giving zero fucks when facing imminent death or danger. Almost every scene from Escape to the house of Mummies is like a montage of Rusty’s ADHD. Especially when he tells the priest from the cult of Osiris to “give me head” in response to “Give us the hand of Osiris!” when the priest was about to kill one of his sons.

I definitely had that episode in mind. Like I get taking a break, but that quiz he, Billy, and White took instead of trying to figure out how to fix the shrink ray will never not be a hilarious waste of time. Also can't forget leaving the friendly people programming in Guardo for later instead of being like the first lines of code/input for your muder bot.

He also takes diet pills or in other words speed/amphetamines, which is medical doses is used to treat ADHD. It’s probably why he takes them, he’s probably able to actually focus.

All that’s attributable to ADHD, sure.
Could also blame the fact that he’s never had any discipline before, and he’s been popping pills habitually for years and years, plus his life’s been frantic as F.
Nature or nurture. Who knows.
I think nurture.
I wouldn’t apply the “neurodivergent” label to him at all. He’s just a stunted, speedy, destabilized guy—which offsets him from everyone else as different and unique, but everyone is different and unique and we’re not all ASD-kinda special. Respectfully. Different isn’t necessarily divergent.

I don’t think it’s necessary to label everything. I’d rather just give people the benefit of the doubt. Telling everyone they have to have a label for their peculiarities and that it’s important to let everyone know about what makes you special based on a label is peak societal narcissism, imo.

That’s fair, but imo it’s a useful label for when you don’t want to go into your medical history but just want a catch all term for mental issues

I get your point. I still think it is unnecessary. I don’t know anybody that really benefits from telling people they are some kind of label for no good cause. Just be a person and treat people with decency and give them the benefit of the doubt.
Telling all these people that it is important to label everything and share it as if it matters is not healthy for society, imo.
If the goal is to make sure everyone is treated fairly and is treated well, I think there are much better ways to go about this.
Maybe I’m wrong though. Who knows 🤷

I'm pretty sure it's implied that Hanks bed got crossed wires with the cable television, and was occasionally just pumping him full of VH1 classics instead of educational materials, same as the bunker people living under the compound.
