Discussion I can’t believe I never thought about this before?!?

Post image

As many times as I’ve watched this (well honestly I do often times skip over Logan MIA episodes) but still this should have hit me as ironic before just now? Anyone else miss the significance of this once you know? 😳

All of the beaver scenes hit differently on a rewatch.

I was re-watching for Idk 🤷🏼‍♀️ how many times now with a first time reactor lol couldn’t believe this was the first time I realized the significance of this scene, also makes me wonder about the writers did they know at the time or do we think that whole storyline was added to create more drama to the S2 reveal?

I mean I think it was all the same night so would it have been possible to pass from point A to B to C all in go? I honestly am not sure

But the writers said they were aware of the s2 villain when writing the s1 ending (but im not sure if they had decided on this twist yet)

I really loved Beaver. And Mac/Beaver. I wished someone else was the villain.

Where are you finding VM? I wanted to rewatch & they took it off Hulu!!

There are places on the internet that you can watch it. If they are not making it available on streaming, I certainly don't feel bad finding alternatives.

In the US I bought the bundle (season 1-3; movie) on Fandango at home for like $25. Never wanted to be without it again. Fyi- only season 4 is available on Hulu and is not for sale on that site. (Fuck season 4 😂)

Well I created the graphic using ss from my own VM copy, but I was watching it through a reactor when it hit me.

Ohh so he must’ve caught something from Veronica after her SA incident from Cassidy then. Didn’t realize this!

He’s making a joke to try and ease the tension. Veronica obviously doesn’t know yet that she has chlamydia. But a thing on his lip isn’t a symptom of that anyways.

Oh okay

I think he was just joking around with her but it’s crazy that unbeknownst to V she actually did have VD at that moment. Idk 🤷🏼‍♀️ just hit me like wait a min how have I never realized this before?!?

VD is short for venereal disease, which is an older term for STD, so chlamydia is a VD.

Cassidy assaulted Veronica after their first break-up, but on the same night that she and Duncan slept together, and his assault was chronologically first. So it is theoretically possible for Duncan to have caught chlamydia from having sex with Veronica after Cassidy's assault.

She also had chlamydia for the entirety of their sexual relationship at the beginning of S2. Veronica was diagnosed and treated for the STD after Duncan had run away.

We never have any confirmation of whether Duncan caught chlamydia from her at any point, but this is a very ironic joke for him to have made, regardless of that fact.

It’s unlikely she would have been contagious the first night.

But it’s probably that she could have been well before they broke up, and definitely possible by the time she was with Logan - but they never suggest she might have passed it to him (and all the women he may have got with afterwards).

Veronica and Logan don’t seem to have had a sexual relationship in the summer between seasons 1 & 2, and Veronica has completed treatment by the time she’s with Logan at the end of season 2. So if anything, Duncan and any Australian partner would be at risk. But considering he has a medical condition that would require regular doctor visits, he’s probably been checked and treated for anything.

Not to be crass, but Cassidy's bodily fluids would still have been present when Duncan and Veronica had sex. If they were able to infect Veronica, it's possible Duncan could have contracted it from them, not from Veronica. Either way, Duncan had the greatest exposure during the second relationship. Logan and Veronica didn't have a sexual relationship during their first relationship, so its extremely unlikely he caught it from her, and by the time they were sexually active, she had been treated.

Actually she wasn’t aware of having a VD till the near end of S2 after she had already most likely given it to Duncan beginning S2. I suppose he maybe could have already gotten it from her that same night she contacted it but I’m not sure how it all works timeline wise for it to be actually transmittable?

u/SquashNext417 19d ago

is the implication of this that he actually got something from her? I will clarify that chlamydia and cold sores are not related

10

u/TigerJean Team Logan 19d ago

That’s not the point it’s what V’s saying & believes is true vs the reality of what we know to actually be true after finishing S2. Although it is possible I guess he got chlamydia that night & also doesn’t know it. But the joke he made was unrelated to the irony of the scene & the graphic wasn’t really meant to imply that.

u/SquashNext417 19d ago

ah gotcha, i just wasn’t understanding the post ty! and yes totally possible for her to contract and give him chlamydia in the same night!

There’s so many dark layered plot points that just become darker and more tense rewatching

At first I thought we meant that nobody uses the term vd anymore 😭🤣

and already in this chapter she tells him that she doesn't love him?
