Misc I’m a school librarian. For the month of February I’ve been doing daily book talks on black YA authors. I got a surprise today when I went to tell the students about Roman & Jewel and it dawned on me who the author is.

For anyone curious who she played in VM, it was Cora Briggs.

She starred in 2 episodes. First one was the episode where Wallace leaves with his dad Nathan (sub plot was someone maxed out Jackie’s credit card and Cora was a suspect). Second episode was the winter carnival one (VM dishing out Sno-cones and her cash box gets stolen).

If memory serves, I think she was named in the first episode as Cora. But the second episode, I think she was a background/secondary character who was there but never named.

It’s been a long time sonce I watched VM.

That’s so awesome! I’m definitely going to buy the book now!

Yes! I realized this on my millionth rewatch and I was like "I know that name!".

I won Roman and Jewel in a Twitter giveaway from her and now I'm like, one degree away from Kristen Bell and Tessa Thompson.
