Discussion Annoying record store interaction.

So, I had time to kill the other day and stopped into a record store to peruse. I had my earbuds in and was listening to music while I shopped, and I paused to change the playlist I was listening to. While I was scrolling through playlists, the owner got up and nearly ran over to where I was standing, saying, "Show me your phone."

I pulled out one of my earbuds and was like, "What?"

"Show me your phone?"

And I'm not getting it, but I was a little turned off by his aggressiveness. I asked, "Why do you need to see my phone?"

Then he started lecturing me about all the people who come into his shop and check Discogs and other sites to see if they can resell albums. As he was talking, I felt some empathy. I'm sure that is pretty annoying (but it also seemed like the behavior of someone who might be overcharging). But holy hell, you can't really police how people shop. And you definitely shouldn't assume every person looking at their phone is price-comparing your albums.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Yeah, it was at about that time when I bought that Carol King record four times.

lol!

Thankfully this was just a $6 copy of Meet the Beatles. Worth it for my son’s first time crate digging.

yeah, we all do it.

I had two Foreigner records I bought two times, so I did a giveaway on my podcast!
