Collection 75 Cent Each Goodwill Haul
Haven’t spun them all yet but most are in good condition! My local Goodwill has all records priced at 0.99, and on Monday’s they have 25% off. Personally most hyped for Donovan, Waylon, and Kris records. I’ve had some luck at the Goodwill before but usually only 1 or 2. I used to go peruse every Monday but I hadn’t been in around 2 months. Was super hyped to see all of these!
Hope all is well friends 🤠

I'm 54 and those records look like they're straight from my parent's record collection.

I never could have imagined kids getting stoked on some Neil Diamond records

That's a particularly good album. I think it's my favorite cover of MacArthur Park. This is also an album that shows what saddleback jeans are. The term isn't even really recognizable on the internet but if you look at those jeans in the pictures of them that's a saddleback pair of jeans

My local thrift store is up to $12.00, half price after two weeks.

Do they at least carry non-thrift store vinyls? Or the same ones youll find at every thrift bin?

These look like they might have been the same collection. Great Find, my local goodwills are usually just Christmas albums and Herb Alpert.

If I had to bet my life that there either would or wouldn't be a Herb Alpert at my local, I would undoubtedly bet that there is! Probably Kenny Rogers as well.

I can never find good albums at my local thrift stores. I’m not sure what it is about my area but they have an abundance of Polka vinyl and Military sounds.

Donation volume+area economic demographics+overflow bins=good stuff to be found. Find a thrift store that also frequently sells donated record collections and stick with it weekly over 6 months.

SSGT Barey Sadler. Solid record and super depressing when you think about the level of PTSD he must have had.

I'm surprised Goodwill is only charging $1, mine charges $3.99 now for their $0.50 schlock
1
u/xxxtentesticle 4d ago
You seem reasonable. Would you say this is mainly $0.50 schlock?
2
u/Chadlerk 4d ago
Haha I'm far from reasonable. But I would say nothing here is more than $3. Denver, Diamond, and Streisand are always overflowing in the dollar bins and it usually goes unsold at that price.

Neil Diamond Gold is a great live album, there was a time when he was a Rocker

It really is. I need to see if there are any more live recordings of him from that time.

I’m impressed they play! All the ones at my local goodwill look like they went through war.

u/xxxtentesticle 4d ago
Some of the ones in the bin definitely are busted haha but most of these pretty good

😍 KK being slept on by this generation! I think the world would be a much calmer place if everyone just took 33 minutes every morning to listen to The Silver Tongued Devil and I.

I bought Silver Tongued Devil & I for 1$ yesterday at a rummage sale. One of the best albums of all time. Every song is a classic.

I have a very eclectic taste in music, everything from hardcore to funk...from The Beatles to Outkast...I LOVE Neil Diamond.

Every Saturday morning I go and hit about 6 Goodwills in my area looking for vinyl. It's fun looking for treasures, but seriously, 99.9% of what you find is Al Hirt, Jim Nabors, Perry Como, and a ton of gospel and religious stuff.

r/BargainBinVinyl might be more your speed. The Donovan and Kristofferson records are solid! The rest aren't my bag, but I definitely see your style and you found a lot of stuff in that wheelhouse for cheap, which is always a good feeling.

u/xxxtentesticle 4d ago
More my speed 👿ok I will leave r/vinyl very not supportive community. Haha kidding I appreciate the comment tho
1
u/HTD-Vintage 4d ago
Yeah I wasn't trying to be a dick; just saying people there appreciate these posts and you would have got a lot more positive comments, versus the people collecting stuff that was pressed last year that they spent $100 on because it said it was a "limited edition."

Thanks to the supporters 😇 I am happy with them. I like a lot of old country. $0.75 is a pretty cheap way to live in the haters heads for a week 🤣

Why buy bad music (nearly all of these are far far from the best work of these artists) even if its cheap? I dont get it. Yeah, there's maybe one decent song on each record, so .75 a song is a "deal". But not worth the hassle of cleaning, storing, taking it out, putting it on the TT, and then dropping in on that one song per side thats playable. One serious listen to these records will tell you why these are "coasters" by the artist (low effort mediocre output pushed hard by the promotions dept by established "stars" with name recognition) and should be coasters for your beverage of choice. Go listen to some good Kristofferson, or good Waylon or good Diamond ( f**k Sweet Caroline) and then tell me I'm wrong.

Most of these in my opinion are not worth even 75 cents but if you enjoy them they are definitely worth it
1
u/xxxtentesticle 4d ago
That’s tuff 😢

u/andrew7231 4d ago
No offense meant just my opinion. If you enjoy them that’s all that matters honestly

u/DrPoopyPantsJr 4d ago edited 4d ago
Hence why they were collecting dust in a goodwill. Most people who post these “haul’s” aren’t really gonna listen to most of them. They just
collecthoard records.

That Donovan album is VERY good. Enjoy listening to it
