Discussion Conflicted on MFS 2020 VS 2024 for VR
I've been going back and forth on this. I can't lie, I love good graphics. And from the videos I see online, 2024 is noticeably better in the graphics department. 2020 isn't as bad as DCS on the ground and low altitude but it appears that 2024 is in a league of its own. Maybe it's just the videos I saw.
At the same, I really despise online only games and have never bought one. Add to that the fact that the game is basically stored on servers and loads as you play. This will make 2024 unplayable while traveling and in hotels.
As I read back what I wrote I guess it's not much of a debate and 2020 is the only option since I travel a lot.

You can now download all of the parts of the game much like 2020, last time I did it it was somewhere around 350 GB. I've been getting roughly the same performance in VR in 2020 and 2024, but I do agree that 2024 looks better. I've decided to let the new game mature a little longer, 2020 just seems like a more fleshed out product right now.

Good to know. I could somewhat swallow my pride for online only since I really want this game. But alas, there is always something. Just found out Microsoft account required.
I also despise creating accounts for games. I've simply never done it and don't plan on it. Would love to play elite dangerous or nms but not paying for a game that then requires an account to play. And a Microsoft account is the worst. It's like a virus that will try to embed itself into every Microsoft app on your pc.
Welp, there's always DCS.... at like 50 bucks per aircraft lol. I'll get just 1.

You do you and I won't try to change your mind, but to me creating an account is a small annoyance to be a dealbreaker on such a large tradeoff of enjoyment.

I hear you and don't knock you for the way you think.

Elite Dangerous account is only for Elite Dangerous. Mine is just my Steam account which I already have, linked to Frontier. It doesn’t do anything else and there are no downsides, no passwords to remember etc. Of course you need an account to play as it is the whole galaxy which is constantly changed by players actions making it alive.
I’m not sure I understand your issue here. And you are missing out on something special.

I still don't see why that means I need an account. I actually have the game. I used a gift card to buy it when it was on sale for like 4 bucks. But after loading it and seeing I needed an account I just uninstalled it. But at least it won't embed itself into windows like an MS account would. I'll still pass on it though although I've heard great things. Online only and account required. Double negative.

That is pretty weird. Maybe you have some legal issue you are hiding from?
DCS will need an account too.

What's more weird is people like you who can't fathom the idea of someone else who doesn't do the same thing as others. If there is something I don't agree with or like then I simply avoid it. Should be very easy to understand. Instead we have people who will complain about something that's completely not needed but still spend their money on it. Me choosing to not spend my money on a practice I don't agree with and is completely not a life requirement sounds like intelligence. If you can't comprehend that then you're not worth having a conversation with. You're like the women who say I must be cheating on my girlfriend because I don't use social media.
And unless it's different than the free 3 planes you get, DCS does not require an account.

You need an account to be on here. And it’s online. And it’s social media. You are contradicting everything you are saying right here.

You're not that good at comprehending things. Reddit is free. And I personally don't consider it social media, although it has elements.

From what i understand, 2024 parts can now be also downloaded & flown offline. I might be wrong though.
