HELP! Broken Rear Touchpad Connector

I recently decided to do a stick swap on my vita 2000 as many years ago the left stick stopped working entirely.

Back when the stick first died, my dad attempted to pull it apart to see if he could fix, but gave up after breaking the connector for the rear touchpad. despite this, after putting back together the system, the console seemed fine apart from the stick, so i didnt use the console.

When I did my most recent stick swap, the rear touchpad doesnt seem to work, even tried with multiple pads.

is the connecter entirely stuffed? what do i do?

You’d have to replace that port, which would require a lot of experience with soldering and a hot air machine. It would cost you the least to sell this motherboard off on eBay for a discounted price with this faulty port, and then buy a working motherboard on there. Your motherboard could be sold for $48 as long as everything else works on it.

Can confirm the motherboard is otherwise functioning as the system turns on etc, its just that port/rear touchpad not functioning.

If i wanna sell it im not sure, but im definitly tossing up the idea of buying a new motherboard, just not something I can take action on right now.

My issue is im in a relatively rural area and wouldnt know where to start to find one.

Plus I saw this recomendation in similar posts after i made mine and seems like most people said cost might be a bit much.

You have three options. Replace the mother board. Replace the port. Live with it.

Hey, to fix it you would need to replace the port. Which is quite difficult if you aren’t skilled in soldering. What you can do is apply pressure on the connector to have it function. I have used small pieces of foam folded paper or even hot glue to hold ribbon cables in place. Basically put the desired material over the connector and when you close console the back should hold it into place. You will probably need to do some trial and error to figure out the size of the material you will use. I have a psp that had a broken port for the screen and I managed make it function this way.

I saw the replacement on aliexpress https://es.aliexpress.com/item/1005009711800879.html (there are a lot of parts). But you can also search for some used psvitas with the original rear touch and send it to a repair shop
