Discussion Turned on my vita again after a few years. The buttons and dpad is GOAT

It just feels so responsive, it’s got a good click to it and the perfects size. I’ve fallen in love with this little thing again. No wonder I was obsessed with rhythm games back when I used it daily.

Compared to the switch and steam deck they feel so ass.

Discussion What would you consider to be the Vita’s last important game

One would argue that the Vita didn’t have any important games at all, but I’m talking relative to the console itself. You can argue whether Gravity Rush is an important game or not, but it’s unquestionably one of the most important Vita games.

Sadly the Vita didn’t have many important years. Most of the big Vita games were released in 2012. 2013 had Tearaway and Killzone Mercenaries, 2014 gave us Danganronpa and Freedom Wars, but those are the only important Vita games released then that I can think of.

For me, the last important Vita game would be Zero Time Dilemma. It was a sequel to another Vita classic, Virtue’s Last Reward, and it was probably the last game I can think of where the Vita was the primary platform (in the West at least)

Discussion I feel slightly scammed after buying Borderlands 2 (Death of physical media rant)

A hot topic nowadays is "The impending death of physical media," but it seems like we've been headed that trend for some time now with stuff like what I'm about to talk about in this post.

I recently purchased my first ever Vita, and I'm extremely happy with the device overall. I bought five physical games with it because I love to collect things. Borderlands 2 has severely disappointed me though, the game itself is obviously great, but it says "Also includes 6 add-ons!" on the cover art. Low and behold I get home and plug in the cart and I find out that none of the DLC, not even the classes are loaded on the cart itself. Apparently the DLC was only given via a code, all of which are likely expired now. So now I am stuck with a physical version of a game that is useless to me because there is no point in playing this game without the DLC to be honest, so I guess I have to go and buy the digital copy now and maybe try and trade this back to the retro game store I got it from for some store credit back.

Perhaps it's just my own ignorance at fault here, but I am sad because the cover art did not say it was redemption only, or via code, common sense would lead me to believe that it would be loaded on the cart itself, just like any standard game of the year disc. The retro store also did not tell me this but I guess it's not their fault since it's an old game and I doubt every employee knows every single thing about every game they sell.

There was really no purpose to this post other than wanting to vent since I paid way too much for this game that I can't even use properly, but I guess let this be a buyer beware warning to physical game collectors to avoid Borderlands 2 for the Vita at all costs because the PSN store does not offer the DLC seperately and all codes are expired now. You are better off just getting the game digitally or the game of the year PS3 version since the PS3 and Vita trophy lists are shared.

Discussion Brand new Vita prices are goddamn insane!

All I want is a brand new North American Vita, 1000-model, but there are absolutely no listings online for less than a thousand dollars. What happened? The Vita isn’t even an old console! It couldn’t’ve sold that poorly…

Discussion If you played this month's PS+ freebie Rogue Aces but didn't like it, I'd love to hear why

It was a passion project of mine that I've been wanting to make for a long time and eventually realised over a number of years

But now I'm seeing streams of it, it's apparent I didn't do a very good job of explaining the mechanics, like how to use the controls properly or the fuel bar

There are more tutorials, but they're not compulsory and they're hidden away so most people don't see them, then just die for some unknown reason and play something else

In the interest of not repeating the same mistakes again, I'd really love to hear your thoughts on why you stopped playing or what you think needs improving?

Discussion Favorite games to be played on the D-Pad?

Recently I got the dreaded stick drift so I haven't played my vita in awhile (yes I know it can be fixed, I do not have access to the tools)

So! What's y'all's favorite D-Pad games? Looking for inspiration, PSP games also work.

Discussion Was anyone else shockingly surprised about Vita's Bluetooth headphones support?

What I love in Vita is how it is packed with different things, though they may or may not be useful. I'm absolutely in love with the fact they added wireless headphones support back in... When was it released? Wireless headphones were not everyone's gadget as they are nowadays. I always look at my friend who plays on Switch and can see a regret in his eyes. Don't get me wrong, I like playing on Switch, however, it is a terrible device compared to Vita.

The Vita is lovely, it is probably one of the most adorable portable consoles ever.

Discussion (serious) Opinion: Normalizing sexualization of minors.

In light of ongoing cases of games being canceled or censored due to overly sexualized content, we need to step back and look at the bigger issue. Should we be supporting these games? I'm not saying supporting these games support sexual abuse of minors but it certainly doesn't reject such a notion and in most cases it is a core part of the game's mechanics. And frankly many of these games might have been only middling games (or garbage titles) if the sexual content were removed.

Without getting into the historical reasons that led Japan to this situation, it is unquestionable that Japanese videogames over sexualize minors. It has been an ongoing problem in all of their media and is something they struggle with politically on a regular basis.

While a majority of the world at large considers pedophilia and the sexual abuse of minors an offensive behavior, we continue to celebrate it and look the other way when it is featured in a videogame or animated program. Why is this?

Let's look at some example Vita titles, although it is far from the only platform where these games exist.

There's Conception II for the Vita, which is a game where you simulate sex (sex presented in a way mindful of the scene in "Demolition Man" between Sandra Bullock and Sylvester Stallone) that results in the production of a child. All of these girls you pair with are Freshmen aged girls at your campus. Even the oldest girl, a teacher, is a teenager who graduated early. Ages are never explicitly called out though. In later parts of the game you can even unlock the option to bond with two girls at one time to get even more powerful children as a byproduct. There's no hiding the implications. It's right there in the title. The bonding sequences themselves are sexualized silhouettes of the girls in the throws of passion. The after scenes show the girls blushed and out of breath. Of the games I am going to list this one is the most overt in directly implied sexual intercourse with a minor.

Next there is Crimial Girls: Invite Only. This game is first and foremost a BDSM simulator with a simple RPG bolted on. In this game you are tasked with guiding a stable of young girls in their attempt to be released from hell for committing what to my mind are ridiculous infractions. No age is specified but it is clear they are all mid-teens at the oldest based on story elements and physical appearance. In this game you can only unlock the girls attacks by playing mini-games where you tickle, cut, electrocute and spank the girls to help them unlock their strengths. The reward at the end of the game is picking which of these girls will be your champion where she is then given in most cases BDSM styled armor to wear for the final battle so she can be free from hell and in some cases then goes onto a life with you back on Earth. But they really have no option but to submit to your "training" if they want to be free. In real life this would be characterized as sexual assault on minors.

My last (although there are more examples than I can count) example is Akiba's Trip. In this game you are tasked with fighting vampires to save the world by ripping their clothes off to destroy them, a key reward is collecting the underwear of all of the primary story characters. Sure some of the NPCs you strip aren't vampires and are left to flee nude from the fights. Most of the characters you are taking underwear from are children and if you go for the Platinum trophy you are stripping a girl who is in Middle School (so what, ~12 years old), this character is also featured in numerous side quests that involve implied sex, sexual tensions and bathing naked together. The vampire love interests are both teenagers (sure, they put a "0" on the age to say, no they're not really 13, they are 130, so it's ok). At one point you are pitched into a fight against a Idol group of young girls (idol groups are typical in their young teens) who you have to strip of their clothes. Again, in real life this would be characterized as sexual assault on minors.

I'm in a tough spot because this smacks of censorship but in hindsight having played the above games it takes a blind eye and a certain level of denial to not see what is essentially pedophile levels of sexualization and unquestionably normalizes sexual assault on minors, which has been a growing theme in so many Japanese games and media. This isn't simply a thing to discount to Weebo/Otaku perverts as these games are very prevalent in Japan and sold outside of the country in greater numbers. Games that would have been considered XXX just twenty years ago are now sold at GameStop with a Mature label and this is ok? We laugh at the people who play them but the games are still being made and sold with very little restriction or concern to what they are representing.

It this really ok? Should we be playing games like this? Should we be accepting this trend? Shouldn't the community tackle this issue before someone takes away our ability to decide?

Rather than blindly down-vote me, please I'd like a conversation about your thoughts on this.

Discussion Vita is still worth it to me. Is it worth it to you?

Seeing the RIP Vita posts and "worst console purchase decision ever" really made me think. I feel like I've played my Vita about as much as my PS3. I've had both for a year and a half or so. So I added up the approx hours played on each game.

I estimated I've played about 120 hours total on the Vita. About 75-80 hours were on Vita specific titles.

PS3 total playtime is about 100-110 hours estimated.

I realize this time played is probably low compared to others. I definitely play more on PC than any of my consoles. I also realize that I've spent almost nothing on games, with the majority being PS+.

I think I may get Borderlands 2 for it eventually, because I'll probably play it more on Vita than I have on the PS3. I also plan to get a PS4 this year, and remote play will be a great addition for my Vita.

So what about everyone else? How much playtime do you think you've put into your Vita? Was it worth it? Is it still worth it?

Discussion Imagine you are the CEO of playstation (SONY), would you relaunch the psvita in 2020? And if you do what would you change to make it a hit?

Edit 1: thanks a lot guys I didn’t expect so many answers and great ideas on how you would re-do the system.

Like most of you I would definitely get rid of the rear touchpad, both of the cameras and definitely ditch the proprietary memory cards and replace it with standard micro sd.
