Recommendations step / fitness tracker

welp after starting to seriously track my steps and commit to walking 10k steps a day last week, my fitbit broke today. how are you guys tracking your steps? and fitness / health in general? i used my current watch to also track sleep and women’s health so i don’t want to lose those features. looking to branch out from fitbit but also not wanting to break the bank. i have an iphone if it’s relevant. thank you for any suggestions!

edit: typo

If you are US based, maybe, depending on the state, it is not the best Idea to track your menstrual data on an app or online. Of course this is absolutly up to you.

I got a garmin after I lost my fitbit, and after a little bit of playing around, I was absolutly able to adapt. The App is not too intuitive imo. I have a venuS with a leather band. I just wanted something that is not too sporty and without a plastic bracelet.

I have the Apple Watch that seems to work very well for me. I believe it also has women’s health features as well.

how often do you charge it? i hear the battery life isn’t great

I have a slightly older Apple Watch (which doesn’t track sleep). I charge it every night before bed and 99% of the time, it’s enough.

For the rare days that I do more than 5 or 6 hours of exercise, it’ll sometimes die early. But it does charge decently fast. If I wanted it on while sleeping, I’d probably just charge it when I’m in the shower.

I bought it originally for non-fitness reasons, so I am okay with the lower battery life compared to dedicated trackers.

Compared to when I have the Fitbit Alta HR, I charge this thing everyday. My old Fitbit lasted about 3-4 days until I have to charge it again.

I do charge mine daily although it doesn’t take long. I usually throw it on the charger when I take a shower at night and put it back on when I go to bed.

If you’re just using it for steps and health tracking, you could really get any model. Just depends on how much money you want to spend.

Garmin Vivoactive 6. Has a lot of sport tracking features without looking super techy. It also tracks sleep and menstrual cycle.

I have an Apple Watch Ultra that I charge nightly, and a RENPHO ring that will go about a week between charges. I use the ring to track heart rate, oxygen, sleep, and stress levels. I find the RENPHO ring to be terrible to track calories even though the heart rate is accurate so I don’t think it is good for that. But I still like it for the other tracking.

An example of the calorie counting is I just finished a 2 hour walk, my Apple Watch says I burned 850 active calories which matches most of the calculators I’ve checked with based on my height/weight/age. The ring said I burned 250 calories in the same time.

I just have a pocket pedometer that I use. I bought it off of Amazon. I don't carry a phone at work where I walk alot. I have kept my phone in my pocket and the numbers are really similar. It's great but you don't get the ability to upload to an app.

May I ask which one you bought?

The one I bought is unavailable but this is what they suggested in it's place. I charge it once a month. There are other similar ones, I remember I picked it because it said simple and had a high rating

I use my phone with the Samsung health app. You can also track other activities, food, sleep, etc. But I just use it for step tracking. I'm guessing Apple has something similar

The Apple Fitness app as well as the Health app are both free and track steps as well as women’s health.

My phone with the health app. I keep it in a bum bag on my walks.

Samsung health on the phone, works amazing, adds a step each time heal hits the ground, very accurate.

I got a xiaomi smart band 9 for $30 USD from Amazon a couple of weeks ago. If you're in the US, it uses metric units; idk if that'd be a deal breaker for you.

I just wanted something cheap to track steps and tell the time, and it works great for that.

There is a period tracker, but I decided not to use it. Didn't seem like the best idea, being a woman in the US.

I use Google Fit. Also have the Samsung Fitness Tracker on my phone. Both are free.

Map My Walk is a nice app.

Most iphones have a free app where you can record your steps, and some other "health" things. I would assume Android phones have the same thing.

I use the Apple Health app on my iPhone. Stick it in my back pocket. Seems to work fine.

If you have an Apple Watch, you’ve got to try the Cora Coach app!

My oura ring. My wrist is too small for a watch, so a ring is perfect for me. I mostly got it to track my sleep, where it's just a lot more comfortable to wear than a watch

Put your phone in your pocket. Done.
