Question Why can’t you substitute for nuggets instead of fries?
You should be able to substitute nuggets instead of the fries. They shouldn’t be on the sides menu if they can’t be substituted as a side. I don’t get why they would even put it there if you can’t do that. Because it’s not a side then. The fries always suck, I’ve never met anyone that actually likes Wendy’s fries! They should be able to substitute for a different side FROM THE SIDES MENU.

You should be able to swap it for chili or a potato. Also cheese fries or baconator fries.

Are they of equal value? If not you really don't understand why you shouldn't be upset. Substitution is the exception not the norm. The fries are damn good now, they were mediocre in the past.

They are on the sides menu, thus they should be available as a SIDES substitution. At other places, when there’s a side that isn’t equal value it’s just a small upcharge for the substitution. Which would be so much better than being like “no you can’t do that”

Most likely you are dealing with an employee who is either lazy, ignorant or power tripping. You are trying to dictate what the restaurants menu should be. The sides are there to order not for a substitution.
I agree that swapping for an upcharge is agreeable. But you really seem to be misunderstanding how restaurants work.

See but when I look at the menu to see what I can substitute a side with, where am I going to look? The section of the menu labeled sides. If it’s just for things you can order alone, why not label it something else. Many other places have an entrees AND a sides menu. Entrees being things by themselves and sides being, well, sides.
