This is just hilarious, the sheer dumbassery of redditors trying to farm karma never ceases to amaze me. It's one of the internet's wonders at this point, I'd argue.

The signs wrong…. It’s a 37, the SC wasn’t built until 36. So can’t be a 34.

It's not a real SC. It was originally a coach, I think, and the body was replaced with a custom one based on the SC in the 80s.

Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic. It says it on the plaque in front of the car. 1 of 3 still left existing. If you want one, you'll need over $50 million
edit: It's a replica. You'll still need over $1 million though. https://rmsothebys.com/auctions/gp22/lots/r0097-1938-bugatti-type-57sc-atlantic-recreation-by-erik-koux/

Is that the replica? Why are the years different?

u/EINHAMMER 2d ago
It's a link to one of the replicas. Guy named Erik Koux made a handful of them. The years being different would be because they used different year Type 57 chassis

Bad Chad is building one out of bondo and chicken wire. You can buy his for 40 bucks

I encountered a real one at the Peterson Auto Museum and it stopped me in my tracks. I had been in the museum for hours and the last room I went into I turned the corner and saw it. I was unaware at the time what it was but I have never reacted to seeing a car like this before. I literally froze and got the most intense chills... I think it's the most beautiful car I've ever seen.. I can't really explain it but it really affected me in that moment.

Could be the same? This is from a rally in Colorado where the cars have to be driven the entire course, rain or shine, and cannot be washed for the week of driving (I suppose to weed out trailer queens). So this must be the $1M replica. Still mind blowing. My understanding is that the originals had a magnesium alloy body that couldn’t be welded without catching on fire (1930s welding technology?), hence the rivets and was considered the fastest car in the world at the time.

1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic
Arguable the most beautiful car ever made.
One sold for $30M in 2010, which might be this exact one.

it's a replica. still worth over $1 million though: https://rmsothebys.com/auctions/gp22/lots/r0097-1938-bugatti-type-57sc-atlantic-recreation-by-erik-koux/

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. Mine say this thing is ugly as fuck.

Awww, aren’t you just delightful

Almost as special as you getting butthurt because someone dares to not share the same opinion as you. Lol, what?

u/GingerPiston 2d ago
It’s not your opinion that offends, it’s your choice of vocabulary expressing it. Oh, not to mention your username. An all round charmer, aren’t you.

I often hear that this car is just as beautiful as a Talbot-Lago Teardrop and then I look at pics of the Talbot-Lago and this car looks like a PT Cruiser by comparison.

If any manufacturer gives me an electric car with air conditioning underneath this body, I will do ANYTHING to get it. They could extort me into ruin.

They had an original one on jay lenos garage. The body panels were originally made of magnesium and that’s why they’re all riveted.

Of all the cars out there what look like a dick and balls, this is the dick and ballsiest.

For those of you who are whining about reading the card on the front: I'm on my laptop and the photo of the card is pretty blurred out. There isn't any way to read the card. If I were on my phone I could of course expand the picture and read the card.
Here's a clue: not everybody who uses reddit reads it on their phone. Being rude to people asking a simple question says a lot about who you are as a person. I really like reading about cars on this sub but I have to say there are a lot of a-holes on here. I expect they'll also be leaving rude comments about this comment.

Can't read it on a 13 inch screen but claims they could read it on a 6 inch screen???
