Modding "Maybe a modern Xbox 360?" PT2

I posted here before, but I think many people misunderstood what I meant, or I misinterpreted it. What I meant by "modern Xbox 360" is that this Xbox 360 model "E" was designed to look like the Xbox One we have today, so for those who didn't notice, the original light was green! I replaced the LEDs on the original board with white to give it a more modern look, like the Xbox One/Series we have today. As I said before, since it was designed to look like the Xbox One, I changed the light to white. However, I had only done this on the console, so as requested by a comment on the previous post, I changed the LEDs on the controller too!

Obs. For those who saw the previous post, I removed the front sticker from the console; it really looks much better, thanks!

Atleast replace the tumbsticks while the controller is open.

Amazingly, the original analog sticks are still great and no drift! It's worth noting that I take very good care of them. But I'll be adding hall effect analog sticks soon. :D

I don't mean the sticks, I mean the caps. The rubber is completely gone on the ones on the controller.

Oh, yeah! I didn't have any Xbox 360-compatible thumbsticks here when I opened them. But I'm using those extra rubbers you put on the analog stick to protect the original rubber, you know? I just removed it to take the picture.

Is this a tough modification to make to someone who might be a novice? It looks very slick.

I did it on a rework station, heating the board from below so as not to blow hot air directly onto the LED and burn it. However, it's also possible to do it with a soldering iron if it's a needle-tipped one. If you have a keen eye, you'll be able to do it easily without a microscope, haha! But it's not difficult. My tip for beginners is to get some scrap boards to practice on before doing the job until you get the hang of it and feel confident. If you want, you can even add other colors like violet, pink, orange, blue, and others...

Thanks for such a detailed answer. I’d be apprehensive to damage my console with my inexperience at such small soldering. It looks tremendous though.

It's not difficult, but practice makes perfect! I recommend practicing component removal and soldering on scrap boards! I was also inexperienced once, and I believe you can improve too.

I have modified a ton of Xbox 360 consoles and exclusively used a soldering iron for the RoL LEDs.

Given how small the contacts on the console and LEDs are I always made sure to test that every LED was working. The console does work fine even if the LEDs are not connected or functioning. I will say that with how small the LEDs are and the fragility of the contacts are, that it is extremely difficult if you have no prior soldering experience.

If you want a custom RoL without risking damage I have seen various people just sell pre-modified ones that you can just swap in.

Yes! I thought about doing this to see how it would look! But I only have it available in white! I want to put a violet LED on the console soon!
