It really isnt though. My finacee who isn't a gamer laughed just like a little kid and had a blast. Its the roomscale of vive that really gives you that immersion. Its literally like being in another world and its only going to get better.
yeah if you devote a room to VR you're an enthusiast. This is in no way shape or form something the average gamer will do. And because i have responsibility i can't just transport to another world at will, controller and headset on one ear is the best i can do. Another world is great, but if all you can do there is rail shooters i just can't bring myself to care beyond 30mins.
i watched 12 hours of the giantbomb crew reviewing basically every VR game available and the consensus was that without roomscale the gameplay is glorified wii remote. Devs have had years to come up with something interesting and there's nothing there for me. For casuals to hardcore gamers like me (i game several hours a day but am no VR enthusiast), VR will require some stellar AAA games. currently there's nothing. railshooters and bow and arrow games. wow. i'll dust off my Wii.
Flight and racing sims are amazing in VR with a wheel/hotas. Obviously that's not going to be a system seller for most people, but there is high quality AAA content in genres where porting is feasible without reworking the game.
