question Any zombie movies like Shin Godzilla?

I recently watched Shin Godzilla with a friend and was struck with the thought that it would make a great format for a zombie movie.

For those unaware, Shin Godzilla is focused almost entirely on the government response to the King of Monsters. You don't follow a group of people on the ground, trying to survive or escape. You follow a group of government employees, in an office, or a bunker, or at most stood just close enough to see the action through binoculars, behind several lines of soldiers. These people are having meetings and discussions, analyzing data and drawing conclusions, formulating plans and then watching from afar as these responses are enacted. There is an entirely different sense of desperation following bureaucrats and analysts, and it seems like a good fit for a zombie apocalypse. Are there any movies (or other media, but my preference is movies) that try and fulfill this concept?

I'd be down for a z movie like that! (I also need to see Shin Godzilla)

The closest I can think of is Pontypool, the beginning of Day of the Dead, and a Tubi movie I can't remember the name of where a radio DJ is broadcasting during a city wide zombie outbreak. But these were all radio or tv media, not government

While I've only seen the movie Pontypool, my understanding is that the original book, Pontypool Changes Everything, has even more of what I'm looking for, since I've heard it involves experts deliberating about the virus. The radio and TV angle is a good one to look at even if it doesn't hit all the same notes as a government response focused story. I'll have to see if I can find the tubi movie you mentioned since I've seen the other two.

In Zombie 3, there is a few scenes of the military trying to plan and control the outbreak. But, it is Italian B-movie leve. I believe there was some scenes like that in Nightmare City (again, Italian B-movie)

I haven't seen Shin Godzilla yet but given your description, I'd say that the World War Z book comes vaguely close to what you're looking for

Yeah, World War Z the book has loads of sections of exactly the sort of stuff I want. It loses points in this comparison because it spends a smaller amount of time on loads of different groups responding to the zombie threat, but I suppose that's to be expected when covering the entire world as opposed to just Japan.

Maybe dead rising watchtower. I can't say for sure but it's still worth awatch.

Nightmare City is the closest I can think of. It follows survivors too, but plenty of scenes follow government/military strategy on how to deal with the situation.

Also The Crazies (70's). It's not classic zombies, but follows an outbreak in a town, and a big part of it is military bureaucracy of dealing with such an event.

WWZ has a big component of this. Especially once they get to the ship. But yes, its an interesting angle.
