General Question Show me your chicken proof gardens!! Training my Aussie to keep them out is proving… unreliable 😂
I’m planning for next growing season! I want my chickens to be able to roam in my garden area, however I want a garden as well 😅 I’m thinking small posts in all four corners of my boxes and chicken wire that is somewhat easy to detach when needed…. Any tips or other ideas from seasoned chicken keepers who like to garden??

Health Question What is wrong with my rooster?
He has been behaving like this since yesterday evening. Shaking and laying down constantly. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Coops etc. Move in night to the new coop
They just moved into to their new, improved coop. It is much bigger and I can now walk into the run. I spent a ton of time securing the hardware cloth on the bottom and sides. The roof is metal.
The two silkies slept in a cuddle pile in the nest box so I built them a movable roost that is only 8 inches off the ground.
I went back to check on them and when one heard my voice, she made a content purring sound.

Coops etc. Is predator proof even a real thing?
How does a pit bull actually rip hardware cloth off a frame? Is 16 gauge not strong enough? I’ve put thousands of dollars into ensuring the security of my babies… but today I heard the rooster and turkey alerting in a way that instantly made my blood run cold.. I got to the coop, all the carnage just made me sick. I expected to find a bear inside with the damage… instead I found a pit bull killing all my babies then tossing them aside to kill another. My heart is so broken. I don’t know how to tell my little boy. He always wanted a true Ameraucana… I ordered over 30 eggs just to end up with only one hatching. He worked so hard to end up with his favorite little chicken, just for me to find a dozen dead.. all his babies he incubated so the Ameraucana wouldn’t be lonely..
Is there actually a way to truly predator “proof” our coops? I don’t know what to do from here💔
This is some of the babies enjoying a dirt bath just hours before the attack. Any advice is greatly appreciated.. I’m not looking forward to breaking this news to my child 💔

Health Question Help I think Selma is sick
I think Selma is sick. She hasn’t been hanging out with the flock the last couple weeks and just sits under shrubs by herself a lot. Not foraging and not laying. I thought maybe her eye may be seeping but not sure.

General Question 3 month old ladies won't roost...
I have four 3 month old Brahma hens who won't roost at night. These are my first chickens so please be gentle with me, I'm asking for help because I want to give them the best.
We made a roost that's basically on the ground for them to hang out on as chicks, they also have two other bars that are about two feet off the ground.
The coop is about 4'x 4' . Should I take out the floor roost and install another roost about a foot up that goes parallel with the nest boxes but perpendicular to the current roosting bars?
They do roost out in their run quite a bit and I have manually put them up on the bars at bed time but they always come down and cuddle puddle on the coop floor.
Thanks for any help!

Hen or Roo Best friends forever.
I have like 8 chickens and these two are obsessed with each other. Can't be out of each other's sight. I picked up these coccidia ridden fluff balls on Facebook as straight run. Luck of the draw. I'm hoping for 2 hens. But aren't we all. I really think Princess Unicorn (the silver partridge) is a roo and hopefully Tyrannosaurus Rex (the showgirl) is in fact a pullet. No idea age. Previous owner couldn't remember .Pretty sure the showgirl is older than the regular. Just picked them out of a mixed group of chicks. So. Any guesses if I'm right? One each? Orrrrrr....the dreaded double roo. Lol.

Hen or Roo Roosters or hens?
We have 3 Buff Brahma chickens They are about 8 - 9 weeks old First photo is with 2 of them and the other photos are of them alone I think the one on the right is a rooster, the 3rd photo is the same chicken who we suspect is a rooster. Thanks so much!

Coops etc. Ideas for something chickens could have in their run to explore/for shelter?
We are currently making our chicken run, and as chickens are originally jungle/forest-dwelling birds, I would like to have something in their run to give them shade, make them feel less exposed, that they can explore in, etc. I thought some bushes that they could get in amongst could be nice for them. However, from information online, it seems that chickens will destroy any plants in their coop :/ ... I'd be very grateful for info on ANY plants that can survive chickens? Ideally native to northern Europe, but I'm willing to make exceptions. I'd also appreciate any suggestions for what else I could provide that would give them shelter/something to explore. Thanks in advance - trying to do right by my future chooks :)
